Is the fuse in the cell phone charger good? The plug in part has a small fuse in it. check that.

I will check fuses after work, thx for the replies. I think the problem is with the outlets, my gps charger did not work either. Also everything else seemed to be working fine

Might want to be careful about taking it to the dealer i'm not sure about Toyota but my wife took our 07 yukon to the dealer with the same prob before i had a chance to check the fuses and thay charged her $50.00 just to replace it. Then thay commenced to lecture her about how she shouldent use it to recharge her cell phone or anything else! WTF! thay said only use things approved by GM .....WTFFFF!!!! then she asked them what gm had that was approved thay said nothing I HATE GM!!!!.

problem solved but still a question

well I stopped by a dealer close to my house right after work. As many of you said it was a fuse, at first they wanted to charge me around $15 for changing the fuse , I asked about warranty coverage and the guy showed me a small book that said, acording to him, that I had to pay for the new fuse (s) not for labor and "checking the system" for any problems related to this, I was tired so wth just $15. I waited 30 min and it was fixed, then the service manager told me that they decided not to charge me for anything, I do all my services for all the vehicles in my house there so they have seen me multiple times. It was a stupid thing but it was annoying. I am happy it was fixed though.

Now the service manager also told me that I need to turn off my cell phone or any electronic device before pluging it to the power outlet, he said that this is probably why the fuse failed. I have never heard of this, my last vehicle was an 07 rav4 and I never had this type of problem. Is this true? or was he just looking for a random reason?

Here's one of the problems. On cell phones you can charged them but once they are completely charge you have to disconnect them right away. Simply the battery in a cell phone can't take DC after it charges but DC keeps pushing the charge in which can rupture your battery. At home AC will quit pushing once the battery is fully charge. This pushing in DC could have caused more amps to go through causing the fuse to blow. I charge my cell phone when I'm on my trips but it beeps when charged for me to unplug it. Mainly just stay on top of it. Glad the dealer worked with you on that. I had a similar problem where I snapped two lug nuts off doing 80mph. One of them had my Toyota lock nut on it. It was an $80 set. They replace both lugs and replaced the lock set free because of like you I do everything there with my truck and my wife's Prius.

For future reference, do any of you remember exactly which fuse it was (And where) that blew out? Might be useful to know the precise location and keep a few spares handy.
