Nor Cal Fires!

Just wondering if the recent Nor Cal fires are having an affect on any of our Tundra Brothers? For that matter has anyone been affected by any desasters lately?

Air in San Jose is very smoggy. Last week came out of my house and my truck and car was covered in soot from the Santa Cruz fires. My friend who owns property on Clear Lake said that the fires are burning and they haven't gotten it under control yet. I guess that they were saying that CA has over 800 wild fires burning all over the state.

It seems every year you guys get hammered with fires, that sucks. If i was a native i would be doing a rain dance for you right now.

Good luck to all that are affected by this and be safe.

I'd do a rain dance too but I have a feeling that it won't help. It typically never rains all summer where I live. I passed one of the water reservoirs and it looked almost empty and this is usually pretty high this time of year. Its so bad I haven't even taken my jetski out and we usually go to the lake for weekend camping trips. We had a bad winter and certain areas in Cali have been water rationing. All these fire are just compounding the problem because now they have to use our water to put them out. It doesn't help when gas is $4.65 a gallon for regular and super is pushing $5. Sorry for venting, it frustrating when I look out and see my tundra sitting in my driveway and I can't go anywhere.

I live in Southern Humboldt County and we have 45 fires in our area. The smoke isn't to bad, visibility is about 1/2 mile.
On Thursday I went fishing on the Trinity River and had to leave that afternoon because our campground caught fire.
They closed highway 299, so I had to drive out highway 3 and 36 to get home.
The embers melted my tent in the campground.
Here are some pictures of the smoke etc. as we floated down the river.

Here is link to some video I shot floating down the river. Don't use full screen to view. Photobucket compresses the video by 50%.

I gotta apologize to the rest of my Cali Tundra bros....its my area causing the majority of the smog...im up near Mt Shasta and we have a little over 1200 fires right now with about 20 percent containment. Im vacationing in Monterey right now and as I type this one of the largest fires is 10 miles from my office! Smoke is soooo bad its had to see 100 ft in front of you at times! Hope I have an office when I get back! At least my Tundra is safe....oh and my kids. Just hope the ash doesnt mess with my paint : ( ....although I have it waxed once a month!

The ash from the Santa Cruz fires never damaged my paint and I left it on for 3-4 days. My buddy said that it can eat throught the paint but not sure if that's true or not.

Yep! Last week my truck was covered with ash/soot. We also left the windows open that night, it was all over the house!

I live just south of Sacramento. There aren't any fire close to us. But the smoke has settled here from all the fires around us. Today was the first day I have seen blue skies since last weekend. The wind has picked up a little bit.
