Tailgate...how do you remove it?

2008, DC.

So, I'd like to remove the tailgate to see if it's the cause of my bump/thump.

Procedures to remove would be appreciated.

thx

Open the tailgate and remove the cables on either side. Close the tailgate half way (45 degree angle) and then lift up on the right side. Once that side is out, slide the tailgate to the right and it's off the truck.

put the vinyl on while on the truck .. its easier because the tail light is stationary

but im pretty sure it's just 2 screws for the tail lights .. not sure if you have to remove the bedliner or not

i snapped a couple picture of my tinted tail lights last night

they're on my laptop at home .. ill post 'em tonight

I don't think the bedliner will cover the screws. Remove the two torx screws on the tailgate side of the bed wall. Then the tail light is just held by a couple of rubber friction tabs. Pull the tail light out perpendicular to the truck and it will pop right out.

I"m having them tinted by clearcoat mixed with some paint so I need them off. Thanks for the directions. How about the yellow markers on the tow mirrors? Do those just pop off with a screw driver??
