TRD or Standard SR5

I am planning to buy an 08 DC this weekend. Here's my question: I am planning to put a leveling kit and wheels/tires on the truck as soon as I get it. As far as I can tell the only benefit of the TRD package is the Bilstein shocks, SRW, and tinted glass. I can add the SRW and tinted glass as an option for a fraction of the $2,000 they want for the TRD package. I can add aftermarket shocks when the leveling kit is put in and still be ahead of the game. Am I missing anything here? Any input would be much appreciated!

As long as you stick with a spacer lift. Its wasted money if you plan on replacing the susp. thats an expensive sticker

Don't forget about the integrated fog lights, skid plates, & tow hooks.

I chose the trd over the standard tundra package because it seemed to handle a bit better although the ride is a bit rougher.

I went with the SR5. I would go with the TRD if you weren't changing the shocks or the Tires. I personally prefer the ride of the SR5, but again that is preference. I do like the tires on the TRD a lot better, but if you are changin that out, then I don't see a big advantage in the TRD. So are you only left with stickers They have SR5 packages with the fog lights etc.

That little guy on your avitar should be saying, "I got the TRD package". I know you actually don't have the TRD though.

I went with the TRD only because i ues my truck for work, and it was set up all ready, i didn't have to mess with it. But the tires they put on it sucked a$$ in the mud, so i had to spend more money on new rubber. I would say go with what you want, if the extra doe is not a problem go with the TRD if you like it.

Thanks for the replies, I have been enjoying the wealth of information on this site. I'll update the thread after I make my purchase and let you all know which way I went. I will post pics after I have the lift, wheels, and tires installed.

I went with the SR5 and installed aftermarket spacer lift, wheels and tires. It cost me a little over 2200.00 to do it all. The stock shocks are holding up fine for now. I'm not a huge believer in the "TRD" package. I think the aftermarket looks a little bit better. But I not dogging anyone who went with the "TRD" package, I just couldn't afford it at the time.

Yeah, it seems to be a waste of money if I am replacing the key components from the TRD package. Bottom line is, I really don't care either way. It just depends on what is available with the options I want.
