Transmission slip?

My CM has about 600 miles on it now. Every once in a while (especially when the truck has been parked for several hours) when I'm first starting off the transmission seems to slip a little. I give it a little gas and the engine revs, but the truck doesn't speed up. Its happened about half a dozen times. Once I'm going along, it never happens.
Anyone else run into this?

Yeah, mine does it too. It seems to happen when the engine is cold and you make a turn while making a rolling stop, like at a stop sign. It doesn't seem to happen if you come to a complete stop however. Personally, I think its a software issue with the transmission. It's like it can't decide what to do sometimes.

Just because it's a brand new truck doesn't mean you should skip proper warm up procedures.

What do you consider to be proper warm up proceedures?
I start the engine - wait till the RPMs come down and then go - not like I'm stomping on the gas - I'm talking just giving it some in order to take off smoothly.
I read the owner's manual and I believe its says to warm the truck up by driving it - not letting it sit for an extended period idling.

OK guys,
Talked with tech rep about this early last winter. They all will do it with the proper conditions which are basically cold starts and fast shifting into gear. There is a set of conditions that the computer for the tranny and engine have to get right before it will give you power. There is nothing wrong and the fastest way to correct the problem is to shift into park and then shift right back into gear. Hope this helps....

Mine does it even when the engine is not cold.....for the record. I always though it had something to do with the traction control. I experience it mostly on turns from a rolling start, so I assumed it was preventing the bed from fishtailing or something.....hmmmm. I am glad I am not the only one. I also tend to notice that the truck will shake quite a bit in first gear from a dead start.

Addz,
Based on your description, I would tell a customer of mine to bring it in and let us look at the truck. Slipping while cornering and vibrations in first gear are not normal. Have the tech take a ride with you until you experience the problem.

Thanks for the input. I will have them take a look at it. I'm sure if something is wrong they will fix it. They have some great customer service.

I did quite a bit of driving today - it seems to do it even when I've been driving for an hour or more. When I'm rolling along slow and give it some gas. No shaking though.

I have the same problem. However mine only seems to do it when Im in a downhill grade. I think the weight of the truck forces it to accelerate before the engine has a chance to. When the engine finally catches up with the gravety moving the truck their is a definate lunge forward. I always attributed it to the transmission not moving as fast as the tires. Anyone else notice this? I also notice a vibration on the freeway if the truck it not warmed up yet.

Mine does it also when i am almost stopped and then i accelerate to go , it seems like the torque converter locksu up all of a sudden. At first i thouhgt it was the tranny computer trying to learn my driving style, but after 5000 km, it should have learned that. I am goin to take it in to the dealer and see what kind of "pulitzer prize" winning story that Toyota comes up with.

I was at the dealer today. Had them take a look at it. Response is. "Normal vehicle characteristic" or something along those lines. It was summed up in one word. At least I have it on file that I asked about it. It really isn't a big deal to me, as long as it isn't everytime I hit the gas, or going to wear anything down like the transmission.
