Lightbulb Toyota Paint - Toyota rep

Okay... now I am looking for a little input. I have an appointment with the Toyota rep next week about my paint.

Has anyone else talked to the Toyota rep about their paint, and what kind of crap should I be aware of?

I think I have my position on this down pretty good, but before I say anything I am looking for what BS they are going to give me.

they shouldn't give you any grief, about anything. They should already know about the paint issue. I dropped my truck off a couple of months ago because I had a paint peel on my bed, and I was called the same day stating the rep had approved the work for the truck's side to be repainted.

So they just painted the one side? What happens when the rest of the truck starts to peel? If they are going to do something, I would want the whole thing done and not just one panel at a time.

it has some light scratches, they appear to be on the clear coat since when I wet them they go away until it dries up. I got 2 small chips on the left side fender under the badge, and the other on top of the wheel well but I live in some horrible roads where I'm not really surprised about them. The blowing sand hasn't really done any other scratches though.

FirstToy..

It might also be good to print out and take along a copy of:

2007 & 2008 Toyota Tundra's Paint Quality Petition | FRIENDSITE - the FREE Social Networking Site for Friends!

I'm getting this prepped to send off to Toyota once there's enough signatures (please sign if you haven't!).

Hopefully that helps to show that it's not just your truck either..

Check with the Montana Attorney General what the Implied Warranty laws are.

Thanks and I have mentioned this to the dealer. They do not want to hear or talk about petitions.... they change the subject really quick. My appointment is on the 4th of June, so whatever they say I will pass that on.

Searched on-line. As far as auto's go, the only thing they have is for the Lemon Law. Thanks though!

Vehicles and Lemon Law - MT Dept of Justice

Has anyone else talked to the Toyota rep about their paint?

Well, I just got back from talking with the Toyota rep.... man am I frustrated... He agreed that I had scratches, but he said since they are from an external source, that it is not Toyota's problem. He said since the paint is not pealing off, bubbling or falling off, it is not a warranty problem with the paint. He said the warranty does not cover paint durability problems. He asked if I took it to a car wash, and I told him no I have only hand washed it. He said uhmmm…. then I ask if he ever takes his Tundra to a car wash, and he said….no… it will scratch it. I was pissed, he would not take it to the paint shop to get their opinion. He would not take it to an independent paint shop for their option. Even if I did take it to an independent paint shop, they would not accept their findings. I said how can you just look at the paint and say it is not a defect in the painting/clear coating process. I said you are not a professional paint person, so how can you make that determination. He said that the scratches are from some external source and that is enough to make that determination. I said so the rain is an external source (it is raining today), so if the rain caused a scratch, then that is acceptable to Toyota. He said basically yes…. that is an external source and if there was dirt or debris in the rain and it scratched the paint that is an external source. He said several times, we do not warranty for durability issues including scratching and chipping. Since that is from an external source…… I am pissed!

Toyota is a very reliable source for vehicle transportation. Very reliable.

But also remember that Toyota is a business. Businesses are in it to make money. Don't beat yourself up man. All companies watch their backs and watch for liablility in certain areas. I guess Toyota just lagged it on the paint this time.

Okay.. I like my truck, but Toyota doesn't pay me to promote them. I am pissed at Toyota not my truck. Right now.... Toyota can kiss my ass. Beat myself up?? I am stuck with a crappy ass paint job that I will have to spend hours and hours waxing/polishing. Every time I wax it.... I will be pissed for hours!
