Help!

My shop can't find lugs that will work with the American Racing wheels I ordered! The lug that AR says to use only goes on about 4 turns by hand before it is tight. The shop will not use these because they said the studs would break and I would lose a wheel. WTF do I need to do? Any suggestions!
Thanks, JC

With an avatar like that, can you really expect anyone to read what you post?

Couple options...
1. Longer studs
2. return the wheels for different back spacing
3. contact Mcguard or Gorilla about different lugs
4. Machine the back of the wheels

i really dont recommend #4, not sure if 2 is the problem but doubt it. I'd start with #3 and work from there

This means your studs are too short right? Try Gorilla lugnuts. I had this problem with American Racing wheels on my last Tundra and the "acorn" lug nuts did the trick! Gorilla Wheel Locks and Lug Nuts

If the you really like the wheels and the lug nuts don't work you can go with wheel adaptors.

Hey Des, you seem to know a lot about the first Tundra's as well as the new ones. My cousin Stewart has a 2002 Tundra and I might be asking you lots of questions for him if you don't mind. You might just be my go-to guy if I want to do something to my Truck. Thanks!
