Best wax
Well I got the nautical blue tundra, and Im having a heck of a time with water spots, we have lots of crap in our water. I tried the mr clean car wash kit, it helped. The other problem is its usually sunny, and very dry, so the water drys really fast, so its hard to dry it. or can you reccomend a good shamee. i already used the mequires cleaner wax but it didnt help much,
Thanks, Jim |

Look down in the detailing forum and you'll find some good info.
Here's a recent thread: Detailing Discussion However, rule #1 when it comes to detailing is always do it in the shade. Direct sun will ruin your results. Also, use a good quality microfiber towel to dry your vehicle. Chamois are obsolete. |

The water here in Savannah is the worst for mineral content of anywhere I've ever lived. If I get water spots from this water, wax will not take it off. Claybar will but you can't do that all the time so, I usually get the best results by using the Mr. Clean (only for the filtered water) AND a leaf blower to get the water off as fast as possible. Then towel immediately

Get an inline water filter. I think McGuires has one. Ive always found their products to be top notch! A very dilute engine degreaser will take the spots off too and is safer than an orbital or rotary buffer (unless you know what you are doing). Be sure to polish and wax after a degreaser though as it will dry out your clear/paint!

After a claybar which is every 6 months Carnuba is the way to go. That Brazilian wax takes awhile to use up. A can can last a couple of years.

Look at the detailing section. they have TONS of info! I use the Absorber towels that come in a plastic can at Wal-Mart. They work awesome!
The best thing I can tell ya is to use a good soap(carwash soap) in a bucket and microfiber sponge or real wool glove. Keep fresh soap on the glove by dipping it in the bucket often. If you wash the truck completely with the glove, rinse it thuroughly with the Mr. Clean spot free deal(maybe twice), and use the Absorber towel, you shouldn't get too many spots. Good luck! |

About $160 but the last tub lasted 5 years. That is once every two months waxing my Black BMW. This stuff is easy to put on and take off before it dries. Like margerine.

$160 is too much lol
Here in Miami it gets really hot and the water marks can be a pain in the ass. I just wash the truck by small sections and I keep the entire surface wet all the time, it takes time and I use a lot of water but it works well for me. Once I finish the last panel I use a window wiper on all the windows (quickly!!!!). Then I use one of those absorbent towels (the ones that come in a plastic tube) and dry the truck as fast as possible. Sometimes I see my neighbors laughing at me, about how fast I try to dry the truck. I use the ICe wax products, so the detail spray and the liquid polish do a great job removing any remaining water marks. I love the fact that I can use the wax under sunny conditions ![]()

Blackfire is the way to go. It goes on and off easy. It stands up to the direct sun and hot temps very very well. Carnuba is great for a wet shine coat, but just doesn't last. Give Blackfire products a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I am very pleased with the $10.00 a bottle spray-on ICE from Turtle Wax & Wally World. I use one small micro fiber towel to spread it around (apply) & another micro fiber towel to buff it (remove excess). It only takes about 15 or 20 minutes to completely treat/cover my Salsa Red Pearl Crew Max.
The best part is that it does NOT form or leave a chalky residue on the paint, in the cracks or crevices AND is safe for those areas of paint close to plastic trim or rubber (does not leave a white residue on plastic or rubber!!). |
