Any regrets on the Tundra purchase due to gas prices?
Just wondering if any of you new Tundra owners are regretting your purchase with what is going on with gas these days. This is something I have to consider before I make my next vehicle purchase. I wish I knew when this price gouging would stop.

Yeah I love the truck but no love for the high gas prices. I was thinking of a scooter to get me the short commute to work.
It is definitely making me think before I drive.

I am very pleased....I went from a 2005 f-350 diesel that had a BEST mpg of 16.5 to my Tundra. I just filled up today and the 3.65 gallon gas sure beats the 4.14 diesel! BTW my last tank I had 201.2 miles and put in 9.96 gallons. You do the math
Also the lie-o-meter on the dash read 18.1 mpg......don't trust the guages!!

When I Bought My Tundra Gas Over Here Was As Low As 2.50 So I Didn't Really Give 2 Sh**'s About It But Now I'm Thinking About Maybe Ride A Bike To Work And Drive A Little Less But Its Not Working My Truck Is Amazing and Beautiful And I Wanna Show It Off.
So When Gas Goes To Like 5.00 Thats When I'll Think Some More ![]()

I would do it again. I am still on my first tank, though. The Durango I got rid of was getting 13 in town and 18 on the highway. This 5.7 is worth at least two miles to the gallon in fun. If I only ever get 11 in town and 16 on the highway with this smile on my face, I will be happy.

Does anyone on here have a RCSB??? That truck is like 400-500 lbs lighter and I wanted to know it it was 1-2 mpg better than the DC or CM.

I can't really say it was highway but it definitely wasn't city. If I were to say it was 85/15. It was mostly back country roads with a lot of hills and turns. About 60mph is all I did for the most part. I'll take 20.2 mpg any day though!

NO REGRETS over my RCSB4x4SR5
re: lighter wt...the steering got 'light' during a WOT sprint down a short ramp to a packed/fast freeway
If I keep my foot out of it ~14 mpg/mixed. I got ~22mpg on a gentle (60-75mph,tailwind)) to Sacramento. It's the acceleration that sucks fuel, but sometimes rompin' on it is just so right. I put a Leer shell on it: haven't done the math yet, but the same wt/drag parameters apply...If I had to replace it today, I'd want the same thing... I might settle for a longer wheelbase or an FJ, but I really like the handling of the one-piece-driveshaft version. |

A fan yes, mostly because that's what my older brother listened to. It brings back some funny memories from the mid 80's. Parachute pants with lots of zippers and spandex in gym class.
I can never come up with something original. On other sights I'd put my last name and football number. Then after a post I'd type my first name out. Essentially I was posting everything but my SS#. At the time I joined I had just listened to some Van Halen stuff on youtube so it stuck out. I was just re-living the junior high years. Mulletts are coming back you know, lol! |

I need a truck to haul my stuff and tow my big-A trailer. The 18.5 MPG I'm averaging with my 5.7 Tundra sure beats the 10 to 11 MPG I was getting with my Dodge Ram. Need I say more.

I don't regret the power but what I do regret is the fact that I had to take my girfriend's Oldsmobile Alero with a gutless 4 cylinder on a trip recently due to gas prices. I noted 32 MPG and drove 210 miles on a 1/4 tank! My Tundra would have been heading towards 2/3s of a tank at that point. Unfortunately the Tundra is in the shop and I am having to drive around the Oldsmobile now.
