I put a Leer shell on it: haven't done the math yet, but the same wt/drag parameters apply...If I had to replace it today, I'd want the same thing... I might settle for a longer wheelbase or an FJ, but I really like the handling of the one-piece-driveshaft version.
I assumed that the combined would be close to the same (RC vs DC/CM) and the highway economy would offer the opportunity to get a little better. Thanks for the help,

Nice it just caught my eye and had to know. The 80s are history and that is where it should stay!

I need a truck to haul my stuff and tow my big-A trailer. The 18.5 MPG I'm averaging with my 5.7 Tundra sure beats the 10 to 11 MPG I was getting with my Dodge Ram. Need I say more.

I was looking at the ford F250 diesel crew cab but I'm sure glad that I got my tundra. Just saw diesel @ $4.59 down the street. At this rate, truckers will be going out of business or we'll be paying $10 for milk.

I don't regret the power but what I do regret is the fact that I had to take my girfriend's Oldsmobile Alero with a gutless 4 cylinder on a trip recently due to gas prices. I noted 32 MPG and drove 210 miles on a 1/4 tank! My Tundra would have been heading towards 2/3s of a tank at that point. Unfortunately the Tundra is in the shop and I am having to drive around the Oldsmobile now.

If I couldn't afford the gas then I wouldn't have bought a truck. But now that gas is rising dramatically I'm seriously thinking of getting one of those locking gas caps.

No regrets here. I have my Tacoma for work and my Tundra is for play. My company helps me out by reimbursing me for fuel as well. My Tundra sure is thirsty though when I am behind the wheel. It's hard not to drive fast, as you all know.

Still love my truck. Being a little more conservative where i'm going, but not by much. If it gets real bad like someone else said... I'll buy me a small little four banger car to run around in.

I went from a Dodge Ram QC 4.7L (avg 16.5 combined with my driving, maybe 19 on highway with CAI-17.5 without) to a 5.7L CM. I just did a round trip from Dallas to Houston, ~200 miles each way. On the way down, my Tundra had about 300 miles on the ODO, and with speeds between 75-85 mpg, i had a computer calculated mpg of 17.7. On the way back, i was at ~800 miles ODO and with speeds between 69-77 I averaged 18.8 mpg on the puter.

I expect with a bit more season, the engine will break in nicely and maybe be slightly better. Its real hard, though, to not drive this thing like I stole it.

300 ODO at 70 mph 22.5 mpg at 75 mph, 21.5 mpg
(that was a 60 mile drive). Some bumper traffic, Idle rolling is about 23mpg!
I work 1.7 miles from home for the past 11 years. FreeRide bike (daily driver).

I come from a 4 cylinder vehicle and I knew my gas bill was going to increase drastically. This truck is great I don't regret getting it at all. But lately I have been a bit concerned about future gas prices. I am wondering how bad can this go...

Here's my quick $.02. Oil isn't as scare as it it made to seem. Also, keep in mind that Brazil has just found a oil source that has turned out to be the 3rd largest in the world. It will take them approximately 3-4 years to start getting real production going on, but you can bet your sweet sweet Tundra that it is going to wreak havoc on OPEC and the illussion of oil supply crisis.

So, in short, relief isn't too far away. It'll get expensive for a bit, but it won't last too long. What you need to do, is cut out something else that costs the money you may be spending on gas. Like smoking, renting movies or something.

One thing is for sure...you don't want to not be driving in sweet truck heaven. Don't let gas keep you down.

**I do not wish to respond in a political oil debate. This post is as is.
