We are talking Tundra , so why say not all vehicles .
I give the facts , you say you don't get a warranty when you buy in the U.S and I have shown you do . You say the priceses are higher in Canada , more reason to buy here and save your money . If you can't post anything helpful here , why post ? The guy asked for help , and I'm trying to do my best , I've researched the questions for him and have posted the links .

Thanks for all the great advice, guys. I'm still wondering which way to go. I do know that I don't like sawing through red tape, which would be all the paperwork etc. Knowing me, unless I would save a huge amount of money, I would likely buy here in Canada. Maybe if I tell the salesman the difference in price between the Canadian and US Tundras, he might meet me half way. I'd jump all over that if offered.
God, those trucks are BEAUTIFUL!! |

Yes Ramoine, the savings are great.
There shouldn't be any issues with buying an American Tundra and driving it back to Canada. Just remember to have all the border crossing documentation completed. I seriously mean that.A friend of mine had his new car sit at the border for a week because of a minor error on the paper work. In my case,Toyota.ca and Toyota.com jerked me around when I just wanted to register my truck, that's all. I didn't deserve to be treated like a tennis ball in a court. If there is anyone out there from Toyota Customer Relations reading this forum and taking notes - shame on you Toyota. |

All of the things that I mentioned had to be changed (guage cluster, DRL's, etc) DO have to be changed. Before an American vehicle can be registered in Canada, it has to have an "Out of Country" inspection, and the book they have to follow is very strict. Some of the changes are minor and easy to do, others are not so much and are rather expensive. "Out of province" inspections are very strict, and out of contry inspections are even more so, and very expensive too. Usually around 500 to 800 for the inspection alone. Very few places are registered and licensed to do these, so they can charge whatever they want.
It is true that some vehicles can not be brought over the border (as noted, the Tundra is definitley allowed). One guy I know bought an Avalon and saved $8000...except he will never drive it here. The engine immobilizer that is required by the Canadian government to be on the vehicle can not be retrofitted to that spec of vehicle. So he now has a very expensive, very nice vehicle sitting in his garage...that he can't even sell up here. Can money be saved? Maybe, if done right and with the means upfront. For the average buyer (ie one that finances or leases), the money is better spent up here...in my opinion.
