2009 Trucks

I'm still set on buying a new Tundra in the next few months but also having thoughts of waiting until the fall. With Dodge and Ford coming out with new or updated models, I am wondering if Toyota will make a change. I know the Dodge is supposed to come in at 380hp and Im not sure about Ford. The new Dodge's look pretty sharp (my own opinion of course) but I'm wanting a Toyota. As I discussed in other forums, I'm hung between the DC or CM, which I think is a good problem to have. Anyone heard of updates or changes for the 09 Tundra? A 6.5 bed on the CM was mentioned by a few but I guess it will not be known for sure until the 09's come out. I'm building a house so trying to hold off on trading until it is finished. Although, my Silverado is having front differential problems again! (third time) Just wanted to see if anyone has heard anything about the 09's. Toyota sure has good rebates right now though..........

I'm Not Sure About Any Changes But You Should Get A DC With A Long Bed And You Can Join Us And Argue Against The Crew Max Owners LoL Whatever You Go With Good Luck But I've Had My Tundra For 7 Months Now With 15k On it And it is wonderful as it can be. My Personal Opinon is go with a Tundra its more reliable and if you get the 5.7 6 speed trans then you have a better resale if you wanna sell it later. The 2 trucks Manufacturers i think are really good is Toyota And Chevy If I Didn't Get A Tundra I Woulda Went With Chevy But Go With Whatever Suit Your Needs Test Drive The Trucks You Want Before You Make A Decision The Tundra Rides Alot Nicer And Pretty Good On Gas Theres My 2 Cents

CM is the way to go because it is for real men. A simple statement but true I can assure you My dad worked for the 2nd largest dealership here in Cali and he was told a 6.5 bed will be coming out on the CM before the 2009 year! Also of course 2010 the diesel should appear. Dodge of course has..well the reputation of Dodge. I kinda think the 2009 Ram looks like a big Dakota IMHO. Dollar for Dollar and resale....nothin is gonna be the Tundra CM or DC! (Regular cab for the young single guys)

I wouldn't expect any Earth shattering changes or quantum leaps forward since the Tundra is so new. Perhaps a standard bed for the CM, and a big maybe for a diesel dully mid-year of 09.

Expect more good deals and incentives being offered all through next year as the economy is still going to be very soft.

Another thing you'll have going for you with the Tundra is it'll be it's 3rd year of release. This means many of the kinks will be ironed out. Dodge and Ford maybe coming out with brand new updated models, but you'll end up being the Beta tester, which history suggests isn't to your advantage.

For the record, I've got an 07 DC 4x4 Limited with over 12k miles and 8 months of ownership, and had zero problems.

Run It Hard Got A Point This Will Be The 3rd year Production So All The Bugs Should Be Fixed And The New Dodge And New Ford They'll Have Bugs In Them. Is There Anything Specific You Want In A Truck? 08 Crewmax stop scaring away ppl from the dc you jerk!

FlexFuel E85 is worthless in my opinion. Put corn on my table, not in my gas. It destroys my mileage and is more expensive to produce. This is a topic for a different thread so I will stop.....

I'd just get a Tundra. This is all just my opinion... but the 09 F150 looks like doo doo, the Silverado looks like doo doo but it is coming out with a Hybrid and the Titan doesn't change very much. All of them are bitting off the Tundra with the center consol too! Bitters! Just go with the Tundra! It's the hottest one out there!

I am planning on a Tundra as I originally posted. The 2004 F-150's had a center console/shifter also, if I remember correctly.

I'm sure you will decide on what's best for you. Good luck on your endeavors. I know I can tell you get a Tundra but it comes down to your choice. Post pics of it.

I have been a chevy man all my life until I switched to toyota trucks about 5 years ago. Resale is a big thing nowadays. Some advise, stay far far away from any Dodge truck. Down here in Florida no one willgive you anything for them. As far as CM or DC, I chose the DC becuse of the bed size. If toyota will produce a CM with a 6.5 bed, now that would be the truck to have...

Hey JTruck,
You forgot to mention the $.55 per gallon subsidy that taxpayers are paying on ethanol! But fortunately congress is considering dropping it to a mere $.45!...
Oh well like you said off topic so I'll stop now too.

Subsidy..... They Can Keep Their @#%&# Subsidy.

I Want 100% Gas Not 90/10.

On a better note, get CREWMAX if you need more people space.

Everyone's going to be improving their platform or truck based off of the latest and greatest. At present time Toyota and Chevy have the best out right now. Dodge and Ford have incorporated, or taken into consideration what these two have done.

Dodge will be a complete redesign out this fall. It's not going to have a fairly different approach. More car like, can't tow, haul as much......not by a huge amount mind you. 380 HP / 400 + torque. New 6 speed transmission. The ride is supposed to be more supple. ( I know this isn't very truck sounding)

Ford is doing more of a freshening. Slightly altered front end, a crew cab that will be larger than Toyota's CM, same interior look as their heavy duty series. 09 will have a 10 HP increase in the 5.4 liter engine. In 2010 however a new engine will come out (was named the Huricane, now I think the name is BOSS) a 6.2 liter with 425 HP and 450 torque (which is supposed to be fairly conservative). I believe this one gets a 6 speed either first year or second year.

Whatever you choose, we all benefit since this is the most highly competitive segment in the auto industry, and that competition keeps everyone improving their product for the most part. Lots of money to be made here, and lots of happy truck owners whether they own brand x or y. Have fun.

If their new 6 speed is anything like my old 5 speed in the Ram I traded in, it'll spend 90% of it's time trying to stay in OD, but won't be able to if the wind is blowing in the wrong direction or it's climbing a .01% grade.

Im guessing your Tundra does a better job at staying in OD than your Ram? I had a smiliar problem with my 02 Ram with the 4.7. I went up one notch in tire size and the truck would consistently downshift when going into wind or up a small grade. It was so freeking annoying.
