lol

Motor for motor, they are fairly equal.

The difference is in the transmission and gearing. That's what gives the Tundra the acceleration, performance and towing advantages over the Hemi.

Our 6 speed autos, with the aggressive ratios, is far more advanced than the Ram's 545RE tranny. Plus, we have 4.30's and they have 3.92's. VVT definitely helps with our torque curve as well.

The Iforce is an advanced motor, no doubt about it. The only problem is, everyone is falling suit. That's why the new 5.7L Hemi has VVT and puts out 380 HP and 404 ft/lbs of torque. And it's also why Dodge is offering a 6 speed auto in the half tons.

I understand trolls come on here and talk trash about our trucks. But if you want to know why our trucks perform better, it's because of the transmission and gearing, not 25 more horsepower @ 5500 rpm's.

We are talking the hemi motor right now , not in the future .
And they are not similiar at all !
I did not know the hemi on the streets right now had 32 valves , dual ohc , so in my opinion they are not even close .

Everyone is chasing toyota in this dept. right now . Until the new hemi is on the street , it's motor to motor comparison now .

I understand what you are saying, but the Hemi RIGHT NOW, only has 25 less horsepower. That's hardly enough to make a difference.

What makes a difference is OUR transmissions and gearing.

Put a 6 speed auto and 4.30 gears in a 2003-2007 Hemi, and the performance would be similar. That's my only point.

Just because something is DOHC, doesn't make it better.

RWBHP is alot more than 25 less I believe .
Technology is what makes it better , ECM makes it better as well . While do agree to some point about the gearing and transmission , the motor is way more advanced than the Hemi .

I am a serious Toyota fan having 7 toyotas in my past, but you better wait to see how these motors hold up before saying they are sooo great. it has some proving to do first. I have already been putting mine to the test offroad and I have to say the tranny / sensor crap sucks and I am planning to over ride completely as soon as I can figure out how. Even in 4 x high climbing some big hills it starts intermiting power to differant sides and is annoying to say the least. I pre run at 90 mph sliding corners in past trucks and have been trying some in my new 07 tundra and it is unpredictable to control when doing it. That is about the only thing I really do not like so far. The power is all there for sure !

Most people don't buy it for off-roading , but I can understand how all the safety features would hinder it in that environment . The engine was engineered by the same r&d that did the Lexus engines and they have been pretty trouble free .

I would also imagine how hard it is to do seriuos off - roading in a vehicle that weighs as much as the tundra .

Specifically designed for full-size pickup applications, the i-Force 5.7 uses a long-stroke configuration (stroke dimension of 4.02 in. is more than the bore width of 3.70 in.). As a result, in addition to its impressive 381 horsepower at 5,600 rpm, the i-Force 5.7 unleashes 401 lb.-ft of peak torque at 3,600 rpm.

Tundra 4x2 and 4x4 models equipped with the 5.7-liter engine will have city/highway fuel economy ratings of 16/20 mpg and 14/18 mpg, respectively.

The i-Force 5.7 V8 uses aluminum for the cylinder block and double overhead cam heads. This engine's more advanced Dual VVT-i controls valve timing and overlap on both the intake and exhaust valves, which also helps optimize power, fuel efficiency and emissions.

The i-Force 5.7 is teamed exclusively with a new six-speed automatic transmission, which is only slightly larger than the five-speed automatic. Shift logic adapts the transmission's shift maps to driver input.

Both Tundra transmissions use new Toyota "WS" (world-standard) fluid with a flat viscosity/temperature curve (cold viscosity is close to warm viscosity). This fluid reduces friction and wear, enables faster vehicle warm-up, and never needs to be replaced.

As referenced here Toyota Tundra struts its stuff as new fullsize truck line
