How much more $ are your oil changes using synthetic?

Just wondering what the price differences are by using synthetic oil in your Tundra's oil changes? I'm just coming up on 5,000 miles in my '07 Tundra and I'm trying to decide which oil to use.

Depends on which synthetic you use and how/where you buy it. The prices vary widely. Since all our vehicles use synthetic, I buy in bulk and the price comes out to about $1/quart more expensive than a premium dino oil.

Also, DIY is usually much cheaper than having a dealership do it.

Castrol synthetic since day one. Yes synthetic cost more per quart and you're looking close to $8.43 per quart at 7 quarts gets expensive. Yes I spend $74 for an oil change. Wife's Prius was $49 with synthetic. You get what you pay for.

standard oil change at a dealership is like $69 or something, if you want to use mobil 1, is an extra $8 a quart, truck takes 7-8 quarts.

For me if it was regular oil I would be charged $45. Synthetic is twice as much as regular oil. I use it in case I don't make it at regular intervals.

i just went to get my oil changed today, and it cost me $84.00 for full synthetic. i told them i wanted the full synthetic that is what they reccomment on the oil cap, i thought that they were putting in 0w 20, or 5w 20, but no they put in 10w 20 mobil 1 pure synthetic. i dont know how much of a difference that makes, but i called my sales man and i am supposed to call him back in an hour or so to see what he says, so well see. ill let you guys know what they say, if anyone is interested.

Thumbs up

Damn, over $70 for an oil change?!?!

And you guys probably do that every 5K, right?

Thats why I change my own oil. I paid just over $80 for 12qts of Amsoil 0w20 for my truck and car. Now I dont have to mess with a full change for 25K miles, just change the filters every 5K and top-off if needed.

I paid $64.95 for the Toyota Express Lube Service. They use Synthetic oil, check your tires, check all fluids, etc.
