the manual recommends 5000 miles, which is what I did on the Tacoma anyways (except 6000 when I was lazy!). That truck lasted 250,000 miles on Mobil 1 10W30, and is still running (guy who bought it drove away with it

Back when Mobile 1 first came out, it was supposed to be a 25K mile oil. So that's what I did with my 1996 Mazda 626, 4cyl. 260,000 miles later, it was a deer that put an end to the motor!
