I bought my Crewmax when I retired last November. For ten years I was a Back country Outfitter for excursions into the high desert of Southern Idaho. Our BLM permit allowed us access to 7345 Sq miles of Owyhee County. I wanted a new , reliable, vehicle that would take my wife & I as well as another couple, into even more remote areas to take pics of Petroglyphs, and Pictographs left by an earlier culture. We also like to use metal detectors and are set to go into the Nevada high desert west of Rye Patch to look for nuggets. We bring a tent and sleep in the back of the crewmax while our friends sleep in the tent. We usually stay out for a week at a time so the interior space is great for the folks....while the 66 inch rear bed serves well for hauling gear. The 4x4 system is great and it's a step up for us from a Tacoma Crew cab. The mileage is around 17.5 on the Hwy and 15 mpg in the back country. We use this rig and are looking forward to many miles off road in the still remote areas of the west. Best to you Semper Fi

I'm trying to figure out how to post pics. I'm not up on this stuff. I emailed a gentleman with the on line name DEZNUT yesterday I think it was, and he sent me some instructions that I'm trying to understand. I bought the CM in November and have taken 5 trips with it so far...with warmer weather we will go farther back into the back country. I have a few pics of the CM as well as some of the sites we were able to access in Dec and Jan. I know how to send from my computer to individual e-mail addresses but not the Blog/Forum stuff. I will try to get this worked out. Sorry Mike

Definitely a DC for me. I have no need for the extra room. I like the looks of both, but the DC is the best choice for me.

Idaho... That's cool, I lived on MT Home AFB for 3 years and did not get a chance to get over that way, but I heard it was a nice place. I also lived in Northern Idaho (St. Maries), and spent a good amount of time in the Panhandle. Pics would be great!

Thanks, Idaho is one of the Last best Places. Did your Crewmax come with a BlockHeater there in Montana? Friend of mine is looking at a Tundra ..lives in Helena. I just got a camper shell for my Crewmax because of the extra length of winter this year. tried to put it off. Cost $1929.

Ha... I have not looked yet... I will go do that right now I have only had this Double Cab for a couple of months, and it has been in the garage for the colder nights. I guess I just assumed all Northern modes would come with them... I know all GM modes come with them...

Nope... sorry to say, but I did not get one with this Tundra. I missed that one! For that price, I am just hoping that having it in the garage will be enough.

double cab is plenty big enough for me. If I needed that much interior I would have bought a Sequoia.

DC because:
1) DC looks better (IMO)
2) the space in the back seats of the DC was more than enough for my needs. I have more space than any of the cars in my house, which is great.
3) Third but not least cost....

I am a 100% happy with my truck

I seriously think both styles are great. As many have said before it all narrows down to yuor needs and preferences.
