2007-trade or keep it
So as my first post, I'll give some back ground and ask a question.
2007 crewmax sr5 w/5.7, original owner, 136000 miles, paint/interior in excellent condition. Truck will be 10 years old in march 2017.
just spent close to 3k one year ago on new water pump, rotors, calipers, pads.
has about two years left in tires, or about 35k to go.
battery is 2.5 years old.
air pumps done at 98k, thankfully no limp mode, just dash lights and a warranty.
uses coolant slowly, even prior to water pump leak, assuming burning it as its not in the oil, but the truck runs great. about the overflow tanks worth per month or 1000 miles. hoses were replaced, no change. been going on since about 90k.
undercarriage and frame are rusty, more than it should be.
So, right now I get as a quick value up to 17500 when researching. 4wd, sr5,trd. I wouldn't trade for less than 17000. msrp was 37181, I paid 35000 before it hit the lot. too much, but no crewmaxes at the time, and I was in need of a truck. I got a paid rental while waiting the 3 weeks.
Crewmax is too much now, and since the rear seat no longer slides or reclines, I was thinking double cab sr5 with upgrade package, trd, 40800 msrp, invoice is 37500. I would only buy at 37000 plus the dumb doc fee of 395. So 37395-1000incentive=36395
I'm getting there.........if I dont trade it in now, I probably will keep it until its dead, maybe another 8 years. Just not sure if I want to take the chances on other things failing. Inevitable, but who can predict the rate of failure, or what.
So 36395-17000=19395 plus tax to go from 10 year old crew max to new 2016 dc. If it was not basically the same truck, I think I would be sold on new. I dont want the 2018 to be all new, because when I buy or if I buy the 2016, its for ten years again.
What would you do? Keep in mind, waiting until 2018, 2019,etc, means less trade in later and possible issues if kept.
