Blown fuse, now truck wont start!! Help!!!

So this morning I notice one of my dome lights isn't lighting up. I remove the plastic cover and the bulb is loose. It turns on if I move it around. so my smart ass decides to stick a screw driver in the socket to bend in the clips that hold the bulb. That worked, bulb doesn't move anymore but I blew the fuse. So i go to replace the fuse and there is no 7.5 spare in the compartment. So i grab the closest 7.5 fuse to test that the light work. They all work. So I put the 7.5 back where I got it from and closed the hood. I go to leave for work and nothing. There is this kindda loud buzzing sound when I attempt to start the truck. I even unplugged the battery for 30 seconds to see if that would do anything and nothing. I made sure all the fuses are where they should be and made sure they were all pushed in. So then I decide to check every fuse to see if any others are blown. While doing this, I drop that freakin little clip into the engine, gone.

How can I pull out fuses without damaging them without the clip?

Do you think that the dome light fuse can have ANYTHING to do with startign the truck? The manual says it doesn't. All I can think of to do is check every single fuse in the box to make sure they're okay.

Any other tips???

Where is the buzzing noise coming from? Engine area? Needle nose pliers will pull fuses out.

I doubt blowing a fuse on a dome light circuit would have anything to do with a starting issue. If its a loud clicking when you turn the key to the starting position its more than likely the battery is low.

You know what I just freakin realized and totally forgot about and didn't think twice about was that last night, I left the parking lights on. They were on all night. It's probably the battery! Because now, it's not doing anything when I turn the ignition. Even the few lights that turn on on the dash are really low. The wife should be back shortly so I'll give my truck a jump once she gets here and see what happens.

Shouldn't the parking lights turn off after a certain amount of time??? I thought they did but this morning I walked into the garage and they were on.

Thanks for the help............

Yup it makes sense. Make sure you let it run for a bit to get that battery charged back up.

I'm a retard, sorry. Now that I think about it. When I got into my truck to leave from work yesterday, the parking lights were on. They were on all the way home and I left them on all night. This morning they were on. I just figured they turned off after some time, like the headlights do. It was just that the battery dying and me blowing a fuse happened at the same time so I just figured I did something bad.

UPDATE!!!

I'm now happily at work after jump starting my truck. Everything should be good to go. I still need to go buy a 7.5 fuse to replace the blown dome light fuse. But I'm no longer in the panic that I was 2 hours ago

Just a bit of advice if you ever go look for a replacement fuse. I went to 2 places and couldn't find one that looked exactly like the one I pulled out. They all had the longer prongs and didn't know if they would work. They do work, they'll just stick out farther than the other fuses. I guess the fuses we have are a little too new for pepboys and kragen.

That's odd, my lights always turn off by themselves if I leave them on. If I've been driving for awhile with the lights on and I shut the truck off, when I open the door the lights automatically shut off.

Glad you got your truck working again

I think the auto off only works with the headlights and not the parking lights.

Someone on another forum has asked before and I've tested it on my truck to make sure it works, mine turns off the lights even if it's just the parking lights on or both parking lights and headlights.
