I was reading consumer reports today and they said that the 5.7 couldnt be their best pick beacaue it was'nt reliable enough. Has anyone had any problems with their tundras?

No issues at 5,000 miles on mine. There are other guys on here with way more miles than that though. There were a few in the first batch of 07's that broke cam shafts but they cured that right a way. No other major issues with the 5.7 that I am aware of.

13k on mine. I regularly tow a 5000lb trailer, and load 1000lb or more in the bed. Only issues with truck have been:
1) loose connector on parking sonar 2) tire pressure sensor computer went bad 3) AC vent to the right of driver would always point to the ceiling. All have been fixed by the dealer quickly. I was also initially unhappy with how much my passenger towing mirror vibrated. Went through the channels with Toyota. The end result -- they said it was within manufucaturer specs. So I test drove a Dodge Diesel with towing mirrors, it was significantly worse. So, I'm much happier with mine :-) overall, great truck. I've owned a Chevy and 2 Dodges, this is by far the best and most reliable.

I don't recall anyone posting with an actual engine problem, maybe wires or tuning issue, but not an actual blown engines, except for a few at the beginning with bad camshafts. BTW- 10K miles, 1yr old, towing a 23 ft boat. Nary a problem (knock on wood)

I wouldn't see why there would be reliability problems the 4.7 is a true and tried design and the only thing they did different was increase the stroke. My only problem I have is keeping my foot out of the throttle. The camshaft problem was solved and the engine, is albeit a bit noisy but there is 32 valves moving around so it is not going to be as quiet as a many other 16 valve V8 engines.

5200 miles(Sept 25), 1200 are while towing 4-5k, 1000 long trip not towing.
Had dr side seat replaced and the factory radio was bad. Overall, happy with the truck!
