2 versions of the back up camera

I have an 08 double cab and really want to purchase the back up camera to help aid in lining up my traiiler. It looks to me that there are 2 different versions. One, which I think is the first one out is a drop screen. The other looks like it is stationary and angled twords the driver. Does anyone have any feedback on either one? And did they stop making one due to the better of the 2. Help......

I am driving a loner right now that has the stationary one and i find it difficult to see. I am 6'3" so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it. I think syberkriminal just installed the dropdown one.

the drop down monitor is the new version, the angled monitors being sold are old stock. Check accessories page for Tundra on toyota.com - the drop down monitor is shown.
I have the drop down version - works great

I installed the drop down one and I think it's just fine. The monitor does not swivel or anything, but it's at the very front of the console, right in front of the rear view mirror so I can just lean over a bit and get a great veiw of the monitor.

The company that makes the Homelink mirrors ( i actually think they're called Homlink) has a mirror that hides a Tiny LCD monitor inside the mirror that is only visible when you put the truck in reverse. I doubt you can just plug in the prewired backup camera connector into the mirror but i'm also sure it wouldn't take too much re-wiring to get it to work.

I have the stationary one. It was my understanding that the stationary ones are dealer installed while the drop down units are what you get if you order the backup camera from the factory.

At any rate, I think the stationary one works fine - but then again I have nothing to compare it too. I do know it works a heck of a lot better than nothing at all.

My drop down monitor came from a dealer (as did my other drop down monitor in another 2007 Tundra). I think the stationary ones that dealers are installing are ones they have in stock, rather than newer designs that are being shipped now.
If it works for you then that is all that matters; I have read comments from folks who prefer each model for different reasons. I was merely answering the OP's question as to how the two models came about. Drop down replaces the angled fixed version. Both have merits. Personally I would prefer to buy the new model if I were to go out and shop for one again now.
