I would also be interested in hearing input on this. I am looking for a tonneau cover with a lock but dont want a fiberglass topper.

roll up

I have always had the soft vinyl roll up type. They are not very safe if you are looking to store things in the bed that are valuble. But they are very convinent.
I just ordered the Tuxedo Lo Pro for my crewmax today.
I like how you have bed access instantly.
Main reason I have always had bed covers was to keep people from throwing trash in my bed. So the soft roll up type are perfect.
The hard fiberglass type are great for using the bed as a big trunk, but then you don't have full use of the bed, which I need to haul my 4 wheeler around.

I can't honestly tell you what's the best. It's what are your needs. I wanted an ARE. But my wife can't carry anything so I can't take it off myself when I need the truck as a truck. I've had Extang on my last 3 trucks. I have Extang Black Max for tie down rails. I have a crewmax limited. Pics in photo gallery under 2007 crewmax/mickey's crewmax limited.

I had a Truck Covers USA Retractable cover installed last weekend.

I went on a trip, it was great. With the Tundras deep bed you can put a bunch of firewood in as well as other gear. It is all safe and secure.

Rolls up easy, the 5'3" wife can handle it easily.

Not cheap($1300) but is well worth it.

I have a snaptop (Fiberglass) and I love it!

I have seen the roll up and they are nice at first but get around leaves and dirt and they are a pain to clean. Just my 2 cents.

I put a peragon aluminum tonneau on my '07 Crewmax. It is not "waterproof" but definitely water resistant. I like the way it stacks against the cab. Go to their website and check it out.

I don't know what the best is but I did have an Undercover on my Chevy and it was really nice. I could stand on it to clean the roof and it was real durable. For this truck I'm leaning towards a fiberglass tonneau because I'm kicking around the idea of putting a Thule or Yakima rack on it to carry bikes. Or possibly a basket in the middle with bike racks on the outside. Here's a few pics of what I'm talking about.

BlueTundra- I looked at the peragon before I purchased the roll top.

I never had the chance to see one operate in person so I went with the Truck Covers USA since I have two friends that have them.

How is the quality? I would have prefered the price on the Peragon. It looks like it would have done the job for me.

I am definitely pleased with the quality. The only drawback was the bar that goes across the bed at the frontthat supports the ramps for the rollers. I fabricated a couple of stainless steel brackets and bolted through the fender wells that leaves the bed open. The cylinder holds the cover open or closed so you can run the truck either way.

Because the Tundra is so tall, I have to stand on the back tire to compress the cylinder for the cover to retract. Putting it back in the closed position is as simple as pulling on the strap.

I ride mountain bikes like Walleygator does but I use the fork mounted racks in the bed of the truck. Since the cover stacks to about 3-4" thick at the back of the cab, it leaves me enough room.

One other drawback, my Tundra came with the rail tie down system but I had to remove it for this cover.

I put a Jackrabbit roll up on last October and couldn't be happier! I wanted something lockable and it fit the bill. Cost around $800.

i picked up an access vanish cover from a guy on this site for under 3 bills. very easy install, very low profile, some what lockable. only draw backs are the slight gaps in the corners where some water can get in and the track the bars rest on protrude out off the rail shrinking overall bed width alittle. two minor issues in my book for the price and performance.

I just got the truxedo lo pro. What a great cover. I have the deck rail system from toyota and the nice thing is that this mounts right to the rail and at least gives you some access to the cleats. My Tacoma had a Loredo by access cover, but this new has a lifetime guarentee.

I put a BakFlip solid fold cover on my Crewmax in July. I have been very happy with it. $639.00 with shipping. Easy to install and with the tailgate locked, your stuff is secure. The tailgate must be opened to unlatch the cover. This unit fit my needs best and for the price, I am very happy with it. Check out Bakflip's website. They have a link that appears on this site from time to time.

Truxedo LoPro QT

Just installed yesterday, took longer to open the box than to put it on. Only wish the back would sit lower and closer to the tailgate.
