I'm thinking about installing a backup camera on my Tundra. Would you share your experience with your backup camera selection, installation and performance?

Here's what I did.

This week I was suppose to take posession of my 08 CM but was told the dealer trade fell through So now I'm looking at mid march before it can be sent from the factory.

In the mean time a did of lot of online gaming taking out my frustrations.

I got mine off ebay. Also have copies of instruction to go with it. It's a Toyota brand back up camera. Very easy installation. I thought I put the camera upside down but the next day the thing worked great. The wiring is already done for a Toyota brand. I heard other brands are having issues with it.

Be Kind Of Careful When You Change Floor Mats Because---If they dont clear the gas pedel correctly it can jam it so its in the wide open position---On one of the forums A while back someone said it happened to them---I did see a warning in my owners manuel about that same thing could happen if you changed mats--I have a 2008 SR5

hey txtundra, the oem alarm / main brain is on all 07 & 08 tundra's. you have to go to the dealer and get the tech. to hook up there computer to activate / turn on the alarm. my dealer did not know anything about this. but it is there. i got mine turned on. what it does is when you push the lock button 2 times the red light on the dash will stay on solid for abour 25 - 30 seconds or so then it will start to flash. if you are inside the truck when you are it and open the door the horn will start to honk and the lights will flash. it does not have the glass breaking sensor, that is a dealer item.

Talking

I got my first oil change on Tuesday(I reached the 5,000 mile club). After driving to my dads house in Arizona this last weekend I put 1,000 miles on my CM. What impressed me the was that for the first 150 miles through the California desert my truck averaged 20.5 mpg @ 73 mph on cruise control. My dads F 350 diesel gets maybe 14 mpg. When I told him that I average 17 mpg 90% of the time I think I may of converted someone

Just picked up my fourth Toyota truck on Monday. 2008 Tundra 5.7 4x4 DC Silver with various options.

This week I put in custom Toyota shifter knob, Toyota Pedals, under rear seat storage, and ordered black billet steps from Hunter Truck Wholesale for the spouse (will post pictures and review of the order process, shipping, product , & installation). As for recovery I have added to the storage box a 30,000 lb recovery strap, 2 clevis shackles as well as a tow eye receiver mount aside from my standard drawbar for towing.

I have yet to decide on a front bumper, bar; however, I want to add a receiver mount to the front and a multi-mount winch.

Looking for a front skid plate for engine and tranny.
