how does insurance handle that? we dont get much hail in PHoenix. Although we had softball sized hail one day in the winter years ago, and thousands of vehicles across the valley were damaged. I remember hearing on the news most insurers were not honoring owners claims for hail damage, and still see cars to this day on the highways here with lots of damage.
As for the insurance comment, they'll cover it under comprehensive. It's considered an "act of god" so legally they cannot raise rates after a claim. Pretty standard here in CO, that's why I have $100 deductible and my collision is higher at $1K. Just something we've learned to live with
tell me about it, I am sure it'll be a week till someone gets to look at it then the wait to get it fixed. I might not even have a truck by the time I'm back from deployment.
how much damage did hail do to your acura and avalanche to total out? I'm curious how they work that, the only thing I can think that cant be replaced is the top of the truck but not sure.
1. Be smart about this; really think about what you are doing.
2. Work as close as you can with your dealership BEFORE you make ANY deal with the insurance company.
3. Have the dealer thoroughly inspect it under bright lights on all sides without the insurance company present; there can be a lot of additional damage that is often NOT seen on a first hail damage inspection and this can COST you a lot of money, No matter what the insurance company will tells you!
4. After the dealership has arrived at their estimate and after the insurance company has come up with their "final adjusted price which includes the additional items the dealership found that the insurance company missed!!!" THEN and only then are you armed with the information you need to "make a trade" for a new one and prevent losing a lot of money. You would make the trade BEFORE any repairs are attempted; the dealership would take it in as trade "as is-damaged". Do not tell the insurance company or even the dealership this is your plans up front.
USAA wont have anything to do with the estimate nor the dealership. since the damage was so significant an independent company will schedule the estimate at my house then I can pretty much take it anywhere to have the work done.
dent wizard is handling my estimate also, I can't imagine how much its going to be. looking at video from the wife pictures don't do the damage justice, pillars/doors/panels everything has damage. I almost hope it gets total'd out and just start over.
