AArrrgh. . . My parked truck got backed into! By a squad car! looks like he hit the hitch receiver and messed up the plastic area above it. Not too bad but my baby only has 4500 miles on her! I drove my dang Dodge conversion van for over 12 years and not a bump - now this !!!
I know the feeling my utility trailer jack is up high enough to where if the tailgate comes down it will, hit my dad didn't realize it and dinged my tailgate pretty good golf ball sized only 450 miles on it
Hey I know a guy who was dumb enough to do that to his truck.......twice.
Truck had about 4K on it when I was picking up a pair of large chest freezers; one in the bed and one in the utility trailer. When I pushed the freezer into the bed it dented/scratched the first time. Then I was dumb enough to forget about it and repeated the same action a second time when we unloaded them.
So yeah I've got a pair of those golf ball sized dents in my tailgate. And thanks to the weight of the freezer it chipped/scratched the paint :banghead:
I got one as well. I was splitting firewood using an Axe. I took a swing and watched in horror as a piece of wood flew through the air toward my truck. The wood hit the rear bumper after a nice ten foot journey across my driveway and left a quarter sized dent. So I'm thinking about cutting the dent out and adding a recessed rigid light.
600 miles on it, not even titled yet and my neighbor backed into it. $1800 in repairs, $20 in wood to replace my front door frame after I preceeded to punch it breaking the frame, $10 in gas thus far driving to and from body shop, always getting a feeling of disgust when I see my neighbor from now on => PRICELESS
I had someone side swipe my 4 day old CM while it was parked. It needs 2 new doors on the passenger side. Currently waiting for April 6, when it is scheduled to go to the body shop.
When my vehicle was new I use to park waaayyy out in the boonies of the parking lot. It worked for a while but then things began to change. I noticed many more cars were doing the same but parking right next to me. I began to bet my wife on how many would be parked near no matter how far I parked away from the store(s). You should see some of the ginormous parking lots we have here in North Texas lol. It's just like driving on the road and there's even a psychological term associated to this behavior. You know how no matter what speed you travel at there are always tards that have to ride your bumper or crowd you on an empty highway -duh!. Same with parking lots.
It became such a joke that I started taking pictures and posting them at a different site. Then several others began joining in on the game. The nicer the vehicle the worse it got haha. Anyway, If it wasn't for my front and rear bumper guards and the rear having a 3 foot long step in the hotch my ride would look like a pinata at a 9 year old's birthday party. It wasn't up until last year when I really took a smash from a soccer mommy that ran her (whatever she was driving) black vehicle down my rear. She dragged her ride down the guard hitting the horizontal frame mount steel frame, the cement filled 3' step, another horz mount, over the last part of the guard and then the corner of my bumper. The carnage of plastic chunks of her ride were all over the parking lot when I came out. Chunks of bumper, a LP frame, plastic bolts, clips, nuts, a wire from something?, rear lens chunks and black paint on my bumper. No one in the lot claimed to have seen anything. Hard to believe that since it would have made some serious noise to tear all of that off.
Advice tip: Buy and install some HD nasty f'ing bumpers and outfit your ride with motion cameras.
I definitely have to add my reply here! I had my 2016 Crewmax SR5 w/the TRD package barely 2 months and some young chicky talking on her cell phone sideswiped me on the driver side. We were cruising down the street and apparently she doesn't believe in getting the big picture, as she failed to see the guy in the middle emergency lanes doing land survey work. Well, decides to look up from her cell phone just long enough to freak out when she sees him standing there and proceeds to swerve right into me taking out my right front corner bumper, quarter panel, misses the drivers door, then comes back in for more to hit my back passenger door. Absolutely incredible. I feel your pain..
That part was $91 shipped for my 2010. Might cost a little more for yours but "snaps" on and off after loosening a couple fasteners. E Bay had the best price.
6 months in and 9000 on the odo, parking at the airport daily lot and found an excellent corner spot to pull into. Pulled as far forward as I could, got out and checked the distance to the aluminum guardrail and got in the truck to pull forward a bit more and bam, 2mph collision. Put a perfect small crease in the passenger side front bumper cap. It's hardly even noticeable, but I know it's there...
