DVD / Navigation use while driving

Does anyone know how or if it is possible to overide the Nav/DVD unit so it can be operable while driving? I know for safety reasons, the OEMs must have a safety feature to prevent drivers from watching movies or changing the address on the Nav while in drive. I just find it to be a pain in the rear to have to pull over to change or add a new address to the Nav unit.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
