Hi everyone! I'm sure this product has already been put out there in a few threads but I figured I would start another one in case someone missed it. I just bought one from Earl and I take delivery on Monday...I will also be installing on Monday so I will make sure to take photos and update but I wanted to share it with all of you!! Finally a storage solution for a crewmax!!!
www.esptruck.net I believe that he will be making more in the next couple of weeks. He told me that I got the last one that he had already built. Great guy and great customer service so he will take care of you for sure.
Not hard to install at all. I have a post on TT that talks about my experience. I also have a thread on TS. The you tube video sums up the install nicely.
I like this product, it looks like it is made well, I watched the complete installation video and that looks easy enough... but does anyone else think it is a bit pricey?
I consider that we saw this product grow from a concept with a small interest to a product that rivals the quality, fit and finish of any other professional aftermarket product. When you consider a tonneau can cost hundreds, the bak box about 300 and many other accessories that are $500+ I think a homegrown product shared with the masses here is a fair price. The way I look at it, he had all of the risk cutting into his truck and fabricating designs, I hope he is making a little something out this deal.
Fair enough, I have no problem with him making money on his investment. I guess there is not a large demand for the product so the R&D cost is only distributed over a few units. When I was involved in the corvette hobby we always called it the Corvette tax. I guess this product has the Tundra Tax
I have one on order,? Kind of thought tundra platinum was a bit much too. But i bought it
But i think this box is cool and will get the crap out of my bed. I only wish he had a drain in one compartment so i could ice my beer down??
Hey Erik, I was thinking...wouldn't be hard to install a drain tube out the bottom with a small one way valve...don't know if I want to drill into it just yet but it wouldn't be that difficult I don't think.
SO, is the top sturdy enough for a couple labs to step on and not damage?
I could see me getting this but my hounds ride in the back with the seat up. It needs to be sturdy enough to not only withstand the dogs standing/laying on it but also can i put stuff on top as well? Like hunting gear and whatnot without damaging the doors?
If definitely is durable to a point where the dogs couldn't damage it's ability to function. Now whether the surface scratches from pet nails is yet to be seen. I will say have scraped a couple things across it and cringed but no scratch....
Just got delivery of box and brake control mount hope to install sat
Give earl credit one week from ca to pa not bad.
