2008 4x4 Limited CM Tundra problem area's

Hey guys heading down this weekend to pick up my first Tundra. It is a 2008 CM limited with 85k miles &TRD suspension package. Custom Flowmaster Exhaust, DVD System, JBL 6disc changer with MP3 Aux output 8 speaker with Sub, Power Back rear window, 3" leveling/lift kit, AFE Throttle Body Spacer, K&N Filter, Pace Edwards Roll top bed cover($1400 new), spray in bed liner, Custom Grill, 20"Wheels with Toyo Tires, Tow package, Weather Tech Floor System. Paid $25,500.

I wanted to know what I should have the dealer inspect throughly before I hand over the cash.
Also thoughts on the AFE Throttle Body Spacer & Custom Flowmaster Exhaust

I would have the dealer or 3rd party vehicle inspection done. These trucks are pretty tough, however you just never know how tough the previous owner was on it. Peace of mind.

If it was me, I would do a 3rd party inspection from a place that specializes in just inspections. This way you are getting a non-bias opinion and not getting some asshat behind a service counter trying to up sell you a bunch of service and parts.

Things to look for: cam tower leak, steering rack leaks and all vehicle updates done. The inspection should find the rest like compression...etc.

Very nice looking truck.

12' CM Tundra, SR5, 5.7L, 4x4
14' Tacoma TRD Sport LB 4x4

Women are like pictures. ..I prefer the ones with me in them.

Junk, take it off and throw it in the river

That's a real nice truck, congrats (almost). You can't go wrong with a 2008 truck, so good choice

Not too many big issues those trucks are plagued with. Aside from a good lookover, make sure you look at the water pump and see if it is leaking.

A LOT of people think the 2008's were the best year trucks...even though I think the 2007's were the best year trucks Only issues on my 2007 was water pump and driveshaft replacement cuz of leaky slip yoke..which I believe only affected 2wd trucks. 2009/2010 was when shit started getting sketchy..(steering racks, FFV, etc.)

Oh, here's a guy who bought a 2008 recently

Buyers Remorse - on a Tundra!

I think you're good bro. Just do a basic mechanical chech...there's nothing big and expensive to be worried about. Maybe look for things to nickel and dime him on, brake pads, plugs not changed, transmission service not done (not even nevessary yet), etc. As long as you have a good lookover and test drive with no issues, that truck should be good for a very long time.

I'd still try to get him down a grand or so, just for S&G's . Maybe he hasn't had a lot of interest, and he's got a guy with cash in hand for a grand less than what he wanted? I dunno about that guy, but if I'm selling something for $25k or more, and I have a guy in front of me with cash, I'd take whatever he's offering, as long as its within reason

Remember, you are the guy with cash, this is your game, not his

Water pump, serpentine belt, brakes, plugs are the only things I have done to mine along with the tires. You should be good to go and try the BDT theory ya never know!
