2015: Updated 5.7L and 8-speed trans??

Any truth or reliable sources to the rumor mill about a updated new V8 paired with a 8-speed transmission that Lexus currently uses??

Been waiting to pull the trigger on a '14 at the end of the year. I do NOT need to buy it and am perfectly content with waiting for any powertrain updates.

Thanks in advance for comments and links to further rumors/truths.

Per a Toyota event, they mentioned that it would get the 8-speed auto but nothing about a new motor. Honestly, by the time I am ready, I hope Toyota announces something. I will need something within the next 6 months.

wasn't particularly interested in the '14 due to the carryover powertrain, but an 8AT sure would be a nice perk

There's a video out where some guy is chatting up the advantages that Tundra has. He mentions that Lexus has tested the 8 speed quite well and should be in the Tundra in a year or so, or words to that effect. I can't imagine Toyota was happy about that little bit of intel slipping out. I'd be surprised if it makes it into the 2015, 2016 almost certain it will.

Shouldn't be to long, new diesel regs come out in 2017, and Toyota themselves had said that no diesel option will be available until at least then because anything brought out before then would be to expensive and be outdated in two years. They even mentioned they were surprised but applauded Nissan and Ram for doing the same thing they refused to.

With Dodge and Nissan both having half-ton diesels and GMs new diesel Colorado for 2015, I'm sure the pressure is on.

I will have a diesel tundra as soon as one is available. The Tundra now is already a high mileage capable machine, and most of your current diesel options are good for a couple hundred thousand miles, slap the two together and I don't think you could kill it.

I'd really like to see it paired with a true 3/4T model. I get our trucks now are over built and are nearing 3/4T specs, but a true 3/4T will open up a lot more options for towing/plowing/ect.

Alot more to come...

I would say it will be a 2015 Tundra sold at the end of 2014.

Is it weird to anyone else to see the year 2014 and 2015? I forget what happened to 2013???

Would be interesting to have the 14 as a bastard year with the 6 speed. Seems like they could have added it this year as easily as 2015. The 8 speed has been made for many years now. Can't imagine retooling the tranny factory to building the 8 speed would have been too difficult to meet the needs of the 4.6 and 5.7.

2013? What are those?

"I recently drove a Lexus RX 350 with an 8-speed transmission (see: my review here: http://lexusenthusiast.com/201.....0-f-sport/). While it is hard to estimate MPG numbers for the Tundra based on the Lexus RX 350, I would say the MPG gains will be minimal 1-2 hwy, 0-1 city. Frankly, I just don’t see it."

Doesn't seem an 8speed is worth holding out imo.
