I don't have tow mirrors on my truck. So I figured I would ask my dealership how much they would cost to get them from them. And I was told that if my truck did not come with tow mirrors that they will not mount properly and that they can not be adjusted right to be able to see when they are not extended. So I said well that's ok I can get aftermarket cause my dad did and they worked fine and they told me ya his is an 07 which did not come with a compass in the mirror and
that the compass is located in the driver side outside mirror. And that they have heard of other people doing this and losing there compass. Now I don't think the guys in the service department would lie to me they have been family friends since I was a kid and have been working for Toyota for quite a while. So they wouldn't even order them for anyone that don't have tow mirrors from the factory. What does anyone else think of this. Does anyone have a compass that has replaced there mirrors did you lose it. I don't know what to think of it. You would think they would be out there to make money.
I have a 2012 and the dealership changed my stock sport mirrors out to the factory toe mirrors

Come to think of it, you're right. My rear view mirror says which direction I'm going. When I get really bored, I look at it...and yup, when I'm going to work, I'm still going south, and when I'm going home, I'm still going north....strangest thing.

Ok ya mine is in the rear view mirror also but I was told the actual compass is in the drivers mirror and it show in the inside rear view mirror. And I'm guessing you can get them adjusted fine and can see out of them fine. Guys I know this sounds a bit weird but this is why I thought I would ask this here.
And if I get lost, I will turn on my gps or use my phone and figure out where to go. Can't remember the last time I used a compass...or even mapquest printouts for that matter. I wonder if they still sell those little compasses that you can mount on your dash? That would be a sweet mod.

Idk about the mirror thing.i know the dealer swapped out my sport mirrors for factory tow mirrors and the compass thing works.the lights on the sides of the mirrors work.they adjust perfectly and I can still use my power mirror switch for the big top part.the skinny bottom part is manually adjusted(still works great though).the mirrors are great I can see perfectly out of them and they look better to
