Okay I understand I should've known before I bought the truck but geesh what a load of crap.
They want you to bring it in to fill up the windshield washer reservoir and rotate the tires.
Then at 10K I'll actually get an oil change. They don't tell you up front that the deal is really only worth 2 oil changes and 5 tire rotations. Well maybe I'll get an air filter out of it. They told me today that the cabin filter wouldn't get changed until 30K.
Bottom line is it shouldn't be considered when deciding on a purchase....Because it ain't really worth much. I wish I would've tried to talk my stealership into at least a few more free oil changes.
I really wish I would have hung out here more before I bought it.
Okay I'm done.

I got a full synthetic oil change at the dealer and it was $130
A tire rotation is $20-$25
$25 x 5= $125
$130 x 2=$260
Windshield washer fluid
Air filter
....almost $400 for free...ill take that any day..just saying

Synthetic or not, running the same oil in my truck for over 5000 miles would bug the shit out of me.i have always been told not to run your oil longer then 5000.i change mine every 4000 and run Mobil 1 0w-20 full synthetic

if 2012 and later and if it came with synthetic from the factory, they change at 10k, my truck as an 11 which came with non synthetic is changed and scheduled every 5k. ask them every 5k and they will change, one way or the other toyota care only pays for regular oil for me so i have to pay the difference now that i made the switch. check your maintenance log book, if theres an oil change box at 5k, then have them change it

I went in at 5k per the truck's maintenance light, and they told me the same thing. No oil at 5k, just tires and fluid check/etc. I told them to do it anyway and paid about 75$. I figure its $75 every other service interval, and well worth the extra precautions.
I agree that it's stupid for Toyota to not just change the oil every 5k. But I guess they have to cut some costs and figure that a new engine can probably handle the extra miles.
Must be your dealer, mine says I can bring my truck in as often as I want to have the oil changed while under the 2 year 25k. I get mine changed every 3k miles, tires rotated, fluids checked filled if needed, new cabin air filter, and the truck gets a wash.

No such thing as break in oil anymore. There is actually some logic that says for vehicles that have factory synthetic, you should get the factory synthetic oil OUT ASAP like in the first 10 miles, go back to conventional for the first 100-200 miles and then change with conventional again until 2500 or so when everything is seated and worn in and then go to synthetic.
All I'm 100% certain of is that the toyota care "gift" I received when I bought my truck will NEVER get used. Too many dealer horror stories and distrust.
