They are Toyota trucks just 3rd world versions with Diesel motors. These are just modified for Artic usage. Sold everywhere but in the USA.

They are the Tacomas built overseas, the question is why can't we get the 4 cyl turbo diesel in a Tacoma which gives the Hilux 30+ mpg?

Yeah, the are def. all over the world. The Afghan National Army pretty much uses them as they all purpose truck. Between it and the Ford Ranger, these little diesels are everywhere over here. I will try to get some pictures of all the different Toyota diesels that run around here (Landcruisers, Hilux's, etc.).

When I worked at Warn we had a Hilux in our design bay for quite a while (back around 1997ish)...using it to measure & fit winch bumpers...I always liked them and wished we could get a version here...would be a great cheap ranch truck.
