So I just got my new to me tundra however it didnt come with the books.... so what is this button and what does it do??

It turns off your side curtain airbags(roll-sensing curtain airbags) so you can go 4-wheeling.

press and hold it for 3 seconds and a light will appear on the inst cluster letting you know its off..

What would be a reason of turning off the side airbags?? Sorry to sound like a dumba$$ but I cant think of a reason...

Roll-sensing side curtain airbag will deploy when a rollover is detected instead of just when an actual collision takes place.If your gonna drive the offroad at slower speeds where the truck might tilt to either side you probably would not want your side curtain airbags to deploy.thats really the only time to turn them off....

Correct. The book says even hard hits can make it go off.....but honestly I think my bags are broken so I stopped turning it off lol

just leave them on and don't worry about pushing the button off. I haven't heard of any serious off roading yet that would make them go off without actually doing something way crazy.

The button doesn't turn them off, it changes the angle at which they go off. Normal is 30 degrees of tilt. Hit the button and it changes to 70 degrees of tilt.
