Converting FFV truck into Non-FFV?
Has anyone converted an FFV truck to Non-FFV by swapping any parts related to increasing fuel consumption? I know the parts should be spec'd to resist the effects of E85 and those parts wouldn't be a concern. I read somewhere about the fuel pump being able to supply more pressure, higher flow injectors and different programming in the ECU based on an ethanol sensor. Could the pump be changed to a non-FFV pump? Injectors to standard? Maybe disable the ethanol sensor somehow? I ask because I am annoyed with the fuel economy on my new truck (2016 DC SR5 2WD 5.7L FFV) compared to my old one (2012 DC TRD off-road 2WD 5.7L Non-FFV). Most of the specs between the two trucks are the same (tire size, tow package, etc...), but I'm getting 10%+ lower fuel economy everywhere in the newer truck.
