As a sponsor of this forum and being in car audio for near 20 years now. Car Audio does not have the mark up it had 20 years ago and the reason is the internet . There are so many companies on the internet that sale junk and they sale stuff that there is no way they can get a warranty for. Tons of them sale stuff for below what it cost me as an authorized dealer to buy. I have yet to figure this out. I would never buy a 1000 nav unit from anyone other than an authorized dealer. A guy on mightytitans.com bought 2 kenwood 7100s from me about 2 years ago. One of the units stopped tilting a couple of months back. These were 1300 dollars a piece and they only had a 1 year warranty which should have been up. I sent him a new invoice . He sent it into kenwood repair center and got it back in like 1 week repaired and under warranty. To me that means a lot. SERVICE SHOULD NOT BE A THING OF THE PAST!!!! I have helped 1000s of p[eople that have never spent a dime with me. Reason being this. If people do an install wrong or waste a bunch of money on car audio just to never have it work correctly. Chance are they will never purchase any car audio again for any reason . Thats not a good thing for my business or the car audio world. And I plan to be in car audio my entire life. Heres the thread the guy put on mightytitans about the kenwood. Thanks James and Kenwood!! - MightyTitans.com

I am sorry the Moral Issue???? You mean getting something taken care under warranty that was out of warranty. Do you think that we morally were wrong. He paid 1300 dollars for a head unit that did not last 2 years. 1300 dollars is not pocket change. The part to fix it may have cost kenwood 1 dollar and lest say they paid the guy that repaired 20 bucks an hour . For 21 dollars they got a customer for the rest of his life. Not to mention I spend 1000s upon 10000s of dollars with kenwood a year and I can promise you of that 1300 sale they made more profit than I did ten fold.

And if this lack of morals leaves you speechless how are you able to leave your home everyday. Trust me when I say my morals are in tack. Some things just need to be fixed regardless.

that got heated...i'm not judging you...i'm just saying its not exactly what i would have done. when does it become a issue is all i'm saying. is this ok but say rolling back a odo to get a new transmission covered under warranty wrong. would kenwood drop you as an retailer if they found out...probally, does this guy care...no, will he come back to you for his next gadget...yea, but at what expense. customer service is not what it used to be, you are correct, and now you have a customer for life...you only had to forge a few papers, lie to a huge company with lots of high paid lawyers, and risk a huge staple in your buisness...not to mention drive up the prices for the people who will come into your shop in the future. and if you did it for this guy, chances are you have done it before...but your morals are in tack.

I think what tech is trying to illustrate is that when you work with an actual retail store as opposed to an online, generally the service will be much better. Many of the online dealers are not authorized for the products they sell. I have also heard of some people not recieving product. Also, please see my previous post in this thread.

Trust me if Kenwood found out they would not do a thing. Kenwood makes wayto much money off of me and because of me to do a damn thing. And as far as Rolling back a ODO for a transmission repair. NO CLUE never done it. But on the other hand I have had a vehicle that was under warranty denied a new trans because I had a lowered vehicle. Which was overturned after hiring an attorney.

As far as having a customer for life . I already had a customer for life before this. Kenwood now has a customer for life because of this so do you think they really cared. Do you think they could not tell the unit was 2 years old it had a manufacturers date on it.

Lets just agree to disagree .

Yeah but you have no problem questioning my morals to be up to the standards of your Morals.Just hope you never get it stuck to you by someone with MORALS!!!!!!!!

Because I have found when I am purchasing anything if the people start off by telling what Christian people they are I usually walk the other way.Because I have been screwed over pretty bad by some so called Christians with all the morals in the world.

Not bashing Christian people by any means.True Christian people that is. Not the Christians that are Christians when it suits their needs .
