Post Best head unit

I was looking to replace my factory head unit non JBL non Navigation with an aftermarket unit with Navigation as well as XM radio. I was looking to see what everyones opinions are on what exactly is the best unit for this? Also I would like to know how you in fact kept the factory steering wheel controls as well?

Top of the line

Kenwood dnx893s - Glossy & Capacitive Touch Panel and Navigation
Pioneer AVIC-8200NEX - Glossy & Capacitive Touch Panel and Navigation

Great units (bang for the buck)

Kenwood DDX 9903s - Glossy & Capacitive Touch Panel (no nav)
Kenwood DDX 9703s - Clear resistive screen (no nav)
Pioneer AVIC-4200NEX - Clear resistive screen (no nav)

Add the Maestro RR and its modules to these units to keep the oem features and give you even more.

I had the pioneer 4200 next on my previous tundra. Great unit, great features and kicks the shit outta the factory JBL entune
I have now. The apple CarPlay feature is awesome, once you start using it, you wonder why it isn't standard on all head units.

I live in Orange County CA, sales tax is 8.75% I paid $760 for head unit, toyota module, back up camera, hands feee mic with install and 2 window tints.

That was the cash price July 2016.

Will the Kenwood dnx893s hook up to the factory back up camera?

They all will with the right adapter module. Maestro is the best.

If you have a smartphone don't pay for the intergrated nav it sucks compared to CarPlay or android auto

Just a thought

I think the 4200nex is on sale for 599 right now hard to beat that

The AVH-4200NEX? I'm actually seeing it for $499 on Crutchfield. I have a free line with unlimited data, was thinking about just leaving a cheap Android phone permanently hooked up for streaming and navigation. I'd like something that can switch between AA and CarPlay easily though.

Is this one that works with the Maestro for OBD integration? I'm just learning about this particular idea.

Do you need the adapter module for this unit or is it all included?

Trying to find one as well but can't make my damn mind up. I really want something heavily Android based but there just doesn't seem to be many options. Ultimately I'd love something that could play Netflix but just doesn't seem to be quite there yet.

I purchased the Kenwood DNX773S and it has every feature you're asking. You will need the HDMI adapter for your phone but if works great. You're able to stream Netflix, Hulu, etc. I love the head unit it works flawlessly and when paired with the Maestro RR for the steering wheel controls it's amazing. I though I was going to need someone else to install it but it is actually
So simple with this module. All plug and play when you purchase the harness. Well worth the price in my opinion.

I don't really do aftermarket head units anymore but I always found Pioneers gave best bang for the buck in any apples to apples comparison I did.

The cost of fuel to operate a 6000 pound 400 horsepower half ton that does 0-60 in under 7 seconds is kind of like the price of oil changes for a Porche 911. If you have to ask you probably can't afford it.

I thought MA sales tax was bad. Although the dumb thing about MA is NH is right next door with no sales tax.
