This idea has been tossed around by myself and others lately to make a very basic improvement to the stock 2014 stereo. Using the same principal others have used, but less complicated. No sub, no LOC, just using modified Metra or Scosche harness to replace the factory amp. I'm really liking the idea of these new micro amps to give it just a bit more power to the factory speakers. Should be relatively cheap and easy. I have narrowed it down to these 3 and it would be great if someone with more knowledge of amp specs could help with a recommendation. Just using Crutchfield site for comparison, will shop around.
Clarion XC1410 4-channel amplifier — 50 watts RMS x 4 at Crutchfield.com
Pioneer GM-D1004 Compact 4-channel car amplifier ? 45 watts RMS x 4 at Crutchfield.com
Alpine KTP-445U Power Pack Upgrade any car radio to 45 watts RMS X 4 at Crutchfield.com
They all seem very alike, with small differences. Both the Alpine and Pioneer have auto turn on, and can be powered by the stock amp's 12V+ (stock fuse is 30 amp). The Clarion seems to be a bit more powerful, and will need a seperate power wire run (no big deal). I however, am leaning towards the Alpine for one reason- even though it might be rated slightly lower, it is the only one with adjustable gains. This, I think would be very handy, especially with keeping the stock speakers for now. So, any opinions are welcome, even if you just want to call me an idiot.
