I've got a 2010 Crewmax with a basic cd/tuner, no nav or steering wheel controls. Pretty crappy system, charging a cell phone kills tuner signal. Would like to replace it with a decent stereo to start then speakers later. I'd like something that is Bluetooth an DVD capable, nothing to expensive, I don't need to shake the windows or nothing just a nice sound an look I'm not a techy or wire head by any shape or form. I've searched the forum but can't find anyone who has done this, most post seem to be upgrading to OEM Nav units instead of aftermarket. Thanks
Chris
I swapped my 2010 non-nav deck to the Advent OTOTUN1 and love it but unfortunately they don't make it anymore. It also was not cheap but and looks completely factory if you could find a used/refurb at a good price it's a good unit. I did have steering wheel controls and what not though.
Hey DoubleDs65, what else do I need to install this stereo, it will definitely need a different trim cover that has a large enough opening for this one, what did you use? Thanks
Chris
You will need the trim piece, a harness for non jbl and a brake bypass harness. I don't know exact part numbers so what @Azblue says is what I would recommend to get all part numbers
Go to crutchfield and use their "what fits" feature. You can find out what you want and need. Then either buy it there, or shop around. Usually Amazon/eBay is better price wise.
I bought a JVC nav unit, wire adapter and a faceplate. Grounded the parking brake wire so can access it while moving. Hooked to stock speakers. The sound gets louder than my ears are comfortable with without distortion.
I went nav to get the reverse camera display. And the bluetooth for phone.
I don't have any steering wheel controls either
