I know it was a thread about this before, and it is few option to get it done , example to buy a new airbag or just cut it the airbag cover to fit the audio controls l. I found a whole steering column . so I don't want to change the key, I will have to remove the wheel only and just replace with mine. Is it a pre wire in my column already? Will it be a simple plug in to make it work?
My truck is the 2011 4.6 v8 Double cab.
Never mind , I just bought the audio controls with the steering wheel , and the cover itself. I will have to remove mine , disconnect the air bag ( have no idea how) and attach the smaller cover on it. Still don't know if I have an existing wiring behind a wheel or not, still working , will find out around Thursday ..
Installed, doesn't work. Pulled out the Rosen HU, realized no wires goes to it. I have 3 wires suppose to go to the unit : Black, Brown, Green.
2 questions,
-1 :where they can be pull?
-2 : 3 wires will control all the functions of the audio volume, menu, phone call?
I need help please, my whole passenger side front panel is open, the airbag hanging both side
I want to find a right wires from the steering wheel connector to my HU for the audio control.
The JK1 male connector has no green or blue wires. and my steering wheel controls actually has 5 wires to go to that plug in the steering wheel. a brown, white, gray, white and red and blue. So I read somebody run the wires from the steering wheel plug because he had no green wire in the JK1 as well. So I have no clue how to wire or from, I don't even know which wire is under the steering wheel connected to the audio controls. Will you guys help me and possible with photos?
I believe the steering wheel controls work off resistance to ground. so when you press one button it gives a value out and the headunit knows that value to be volume up for example. this type of wiring would only need 2 wires I believe. a signal wire and a ground wire.
Let me see if I'm on the same page...... u already connected the steering wheel controls to the steering wheel but now you need to figure out how to connect it to the hu?
I was aware that, I was wondering the other wires for the dim lights for the controls?
I just like to find out exactly which wires goes to the au1 , au2 etc.
Since you have an aftermarket HU, I think you would need an interface such as the ASWC from Metra. Then you would just install it in the dash per the instructions.
This unit has a same 3 wires as the factory one and does not required anything else. I just can't find that 3 wires from the point behind the steering wheel. I lost
Answer to myself, and if anybody will facing with a same problem, the black connector is just below the steering wheel. Next to that yellow plug. Found it
But doesn't have a "pin" in it for the required 3 wires. Anyone knows who selling those pins for this?
I circled the plug location, also I put 3 red dot where the wires suppose to plug in:
Now that you mentioned it, that Is a pretty hi-def finger print, lol
