I have a 2010 Tundra DoubleCab that my father gave me when he passed. So, I definitely am keeping this truck and I don't really want to do too many mods to it. It has the 5.7L V8 and he already had a Magnaflow catback installed. So that is definitely a plus IMO.
Anyway, the OEM unit that was in this was low level to say the least. I have aftermarket equipment in all of my vehicles but I want to try a factory look this time.
So, I bought a 2012 Toyota OEM Navigation system and it is simply plug and play. Steering wheel controls, Aux input, Navigation... everything works.
BTW, I am thinking of getting 2 Sundown Audio SD210's in a ported box for under the seat and a Sundown amp as well.
In the meantime here are a few pics of the installation. I may add a video in the future. I have to get use to the controls but all in all I really like it.
what gets plugged into the gray port that looks like the gps antenna ? comming from my harness i have a blue plug with one tiny hole in the center does anyone know what this is for? It does not fit in the small gray port that looks like the gps antenna.
thanks so much for the respones at least there is hope in getting the sat to work .I can't wait for the part numbers thans so much again.the part numbers that you are giving me are the parts that you had used before just want to make sure they work thanks agin
Last night I opened my dash up again to see why I did not notice the usb plug and what I found was that toyota ran the usb and aux togetherr eliminated the usb plug and incopirated it into the harness. I guess this is wh my aux works and the usb has power without me plugging anything into the back of the nav unit.
If any one wants to have their sat working after the nav upgrade install vais has a interface with a tuner and a adapter for the stock shark fin antenna. the part number is sl3sat for the interface and it uses the new sirius tuner that accepts both xm and sirius.the shark fin adapter is sfa12f. this company deals only with toyota audio. the best pricing that I had found after days of looking was from a company called replacementradios . this entire kit and adapter is completly plug and play .
so i got the VSS/ reverse (K6) connector from the email listed few post back, Do i need to connect both cables the VSS and the reverse or only VSS is necessary? and where are this cables at? few people say behind the current HU, others on the glove box, etc
The K3 connector is the large 20 pin one on the back of the radio. The AJ2 connector is the lowest large white one on the passenger sde firewall. If you buy the K6 connector from the contact above you hook the red wire into the K6 connector pin 3 (white) and the blue wire into the AJ2 connector pin 3 (blue).

Only the VSS wire is needed for the voice turn by turn to work. The reverse wire is needed if you are hooking the camera to your nav.
Seems to simple to be true, but I just had to run the reverse wire to an existing wire that connects to the back of the HU. You just tap into the wire. Sorry, I don't recall the connector or pin number. I do think the wire was white. I know it's documented here or over at Tundra solutions.
part #? of the one i need??? Also is there a way to bypass it? I actually dont care about the mic, i just want to be able to use entune, is there a way to bypass the microphone and setup entune with your phone? Like short 2 cables so it thinks it has a microphone?
Then i either dont know how to use it... or i can get turn by turn to work... When i go the the nav menu and click on go home, it just say drive to the highlighted route to start and it never does.. is there a trick?
Mine does this: like the initial part of it.. but see how it took a while for it to start telling him what to do? i havent waited long enough, ill try this later today... if it is like on that video it sucks.... my iphone does better turn by turn
there's another thread here where the guy got the non-JBL OEM NAV headunit to work. He found some additional harnesses from a USB interface kit for Prius or Camry or other Toyotas, used the harness part of the kit and has working USP iPod controls. Maybe someone on this thread could see this part and know where to get it or get a part number for just the harnesses, not the box that comes with it...? The pic is from the 4Runner forum...
just a heads up... i recently bought a navigation unit off another member, and it did not include the antenna. When I went online, including eBay, a new antenna was over $500!
did some looking around and from what i found on one eBay site, a toyota Prius antenna will work, plug and play!
just figured i'd let anyone looking for an antenna know, especially since I ordered the Prius antenna for $17 and the cord is long enough to run to the roof, if you're so inclined (I will be this summer)
Has anyone figured out how to get the factory back up camera on this to display in the radio and not in the rear view mirror?
