Tundra Winch bumper Design feadback (now w/ prototype pics)

Hey there everyone. I'm from a winch bumper manufacturing company and I'm doing some design R-and-D on a Replacement Winch bumper for the tundra. I've made a rendition of what we're planning on doing that I'll post in a moment, and I'd just like your feadback beyond that point. Due to respect for the forum host, and the other forum vendors, I'm going to have to abide by some basic rules. Currently we sponsor one of the forums "sister forum" so its possible that we may become a forum vendor in the future but until then we're keeping to the following

Basic rules:
  • I can't discuss cost... Honestly at this point it wouldn't matter, if I could, because we probably couldn't even give a good guess....
  • I'm not suposed to discuss the name of my company, so even though its possible that to some of you it may be apparent right off the bat after seeing the bumper design, we still need to keep it cool. So, if you ask, I won't say, and if you blurt it out, I probably can't stop you....

....I think thats about it...

Ok so because I hope that this first post is read I'm going to post the pic's I have in the next post, were I'll explain the preliminary bumper design....

OK so here is the current design. Things to remember, the design your looking at is preliminary. There are standard features, such as hi-lift jack mounting points that are not shown in the picture. I'm not a photoshop master so the small details like "tires" are ugly and I don't care. The point was to give you an idea of what the bumper will look like on the vehicle.....

so enjoy and let me know what you think...

before its asked: yes, it will be available without hoops or bull bars.

in my humble oppinion it looks good. ive been considering getting a bull bar with lights and a winch, but i didnt want to take my tow hooks off, so something like this would be the best of both worlds

I can dig it...
It follows the lines of the truck and looks like it belongs there.

I think that looks great, it has tow points, plenty of clearance, and is stylish. Will you include or have available a skid plate package to go along with the bumper? Do you have a side view?

It will most likely have atleast 1 skid plate to cover the radiator, but its unkown weather or not we'll do anything to replace the under side stuff.

I don't have a side view with the vehicle, but I can give a side view of the bumper. The Center hoop bar that goes around the grill is sloped back and follows the slant of the grill...

The side view is pretty much a guess. We haven't finished with the vehicle messurments as of yet....

I'm sold. I'll wish for it to magically appear on my truck.

Can you put a beer bottle opener on that as a standard option?

Looks good I would like smaller OD hoop bar. I like ARB's bumper but I don't want it because the hoop is set far out so the hood can open. How heavy would it be? I'm worried about air bags as well. All and all I like it

As far as park sonar works I'll have to see what kind of system the tundra's have. The FJ Cruiser sensors are all in the rear. We've been in the prototyping stages on the FJ rear and are almost ready for production on those. So far the Parking sensors have been fine. It was really just a matter of making sure we were not interfering with the spread pattern and making room for the sensors to fit. I imagine that the systems are pretty similar....

Air bags are one of those things that have a whole new world of junk attached. Here are the basics: Air bags are triggered by a sensor, usually an accelerometer of some sort. That sensor (or that sensor combined with a computer system) detects rapped changes in acceleration. The sensors can be a variety of places, but my guess is that Toyota has them mounted on the body of the vehicle up front. So for the most part they are independent of the bumper. In many vehicles, the sensor is actually mounted in the dash.

Now Our company does not claim airbag compatibility, mainly because we don't have the funding to take a brand new car and run it into a wall at high speed (though we dream about it ). For us that's really the only way to back up a claim such as that, though in theory the only factor that the bumper will change is the crush rate of the vehicle. Now if a sensor that is independent of the bumper, that is calculating the rate of change in acceleration, theoretically it should still work the same, but until we have the opportunity to test it in such a manner we won't be claiming airbag compatibility.

for some good info on airbags go here: Howstuffworks "How Airbags Work"

When you say smaller, can you give me a visual on that, or maybe a bit more description?

Wow, maybe that's something I should check into, how does the hood open?

I was afraid you were going to say that... Our FJ front has a hoop that is more prerunner style. This means we're going to have to get our hands on a tundra soon in order to get that part of it straightened out... OK, well the prerunner style request is noted. I'll see if I can come up with a stylish rendition....

I love it... I would like to be able to mount two Off-Road Lights on the flat deck above the winch (on both sides of the Toyota emblem and in front of the grill). Will I have that option with this?
