2.5" Ready Lift, installed - what did you pay?

I hate this forum, I always see something someone has done to their truck and it ends up costing me a fortune
Anyway, I am going to get a 2.4" Readylift leveling kit.

I looked at bigger, but I don't want that mud hopper look. I'm not mechanically inclined enough to install it myself - I am sure I could do it, but I don't want to. I thought about getting my mobile mechanic to do it, but as it needs alignement work after the install I'd prefer to let the professionals do it. Readylift recommend these guys:
Truck Parts & Truck Accessories in Compton, CA 90220 (they are not near my home, but that branch is right round the corner from work).
They quoted $622 out the door - seems steep, what do you all think?

That's not too bad, but I think some others on this site have gotten it done for quite a bit less. I recently got a quote from my dealer for a ToyTec 3" lift installed for $995!!!!

Honestly - its a piece of 2"-3" pipe with 2 metal plates welded on top and bottom, 4 bolts through the top. Materials cost about $0.50 - if you bought it - I had all the stuff at home. Labor was a little different - expect a few hours for install (took me about 5 hours when building the lift blocks and installing)

Your kidding me, I just spoke with a local 4x4 shop and they quoted me $250-$285. I asked because I saw someone in town with the same lift and I really liked the way the truck sat. The guy said they had it done in an hour and it was a piece of cake. My advice is to shop around.

The price I was quoted included the part - which on the web site is $230. So they are charging $340 for the install (plus tax)

I'd be willing to try building my own of anything, except something I put my families (and other road users) life at risk in. I am more adept with a soldering iron than a mig welder.
Making my own is not an option, I don't even change my own brake pads

It's funny you say that. Look at the picture above of the ReadyLift....they only tack welded the plates to the pipe in 4 different places - you can see the welds in the picture.

At least I welded mine all the way around for both plates. I also used thicker materials...I think I trust mine more than those

yeah but the guy I talked to is a dealer and gets the part at cost. What your are seeing is the mark up cost, if you can find a shop that is a dealer you might be way better off. The labor should only be an hour or hour and a half at most, that is unless they can align the wheels there too.

Toytec makes one. Made out of the same aluminum block they use for the 3" lift and the rear blocks. Looks a little more sturdy, IMO. I'm thinking about going that route. I checked at the dealership, they quoted $80/hr to install and align and all that stuff. Maybe 2 hours of labor according to the guy who does it. My dealership has never done one of these, they've only installed the Toytec 3" lifts.
