08 Tundra ... Toytec 3"

Hello everyone, this is my first post but I have been reading around the site for the past couple months.

Purchased the Toytec 3" leveling kit a couple weeks ago and finally had time to get it put on. I just wanted to throw up a picture, though it's not the best, to add to a great site.

RMJ, with a lift like that, what kind of wheels / tires did you go with? What's the max tire size you can add?

Thinking about going a little bigger in the future.

I too plan to lift and level, and add about 33" tires. I call Toyota up and they said the is now way to calibrate the speedo. But th ey also told me that they pick up the speed off of the fron ABS wheel sensor. So would that not calbrate itself?

Don't thinks so...
I went through this when I lifted the wifes FJ. some pretty wild stories about dealers telling folks that the speedo will 'self calibrate'
the truth (with the FJ anyway) is that the speedo from the factory reads a little low so after the bigger rubber (285s on our FJ) went on the speedo was only off by a couple of km/h at 100 km/h. unless the Tundra has some GPS system to calibrate and adjust for the different sized rubber the speedo WILL read different (depending if you went larger or smaller tire diameter).

Yeah what about the dealers that sell trucks with bigger tires and a lift off the lot? My dealer has several trucks on the lot with 305's. Can they sell a truck without calibrating the speedo? When I get my tires I will ask them about this for sure.

Ok all, I am about to spend some $$$$ on this thing. I know I want 33" tires and am thinking of a Topgun Customz 2 1/4 " front only lift (Topgun is only 20 miles from my house) Should I lift the rear at all? And what tires are working well for those that have already done this?

Thanks,

DSLKSL

I think with a lift like that 33" is the biggest you can go and still may need to trim the skid plate a bit if the tires are too wide.

With past experience on my chevs and gm, the speedo was recalibrated by the dealer and on the one they declined to do, i purchased a superchip tuner and took care if this myself with more power and was able to use the diagnostic and log features to play and watch the results. lb

Hey MaxSE03- THANKS for the picture! I have been looking for one like that! That is exactly how I want my future Tundra to look (Nauti Blue with a 3 inch lift and 20 inch wheels) and your pic just helped me picture it!!! SWEET LOOKING TRUCK, by the way...That blue is the SHEET! Like the tow mirrors too... Why are you thinking of going with bigger tires in the future?
