ok I was thinking about getting this fox setup also. I have to ask why these would be sent out without enough nitro in them from the factory. Is this a common thing that you have to get them filled up again over time?
thanks

Not really sure why, but a couple of guys on here mentioned they had an issue too. For me it was just the drivers side one, the other was fine but we refilled it with fresh nitrogen anyhow. Fox was very helpful and I've been credited the fifty dollars it cost me have them filled. So I'm happy for sure.
I contacted the engineer at fox today to inquire about the longer model coilover, the difference is not worth the extra cash ($400) as they only provide a 1/4 inch more down travel and 3/4 inch up travel, plus a aftermarket UCA is required to use them. I just don't see it being worth it. IMHO

Im not sure yet, but Ive emailed him again to get an exact length fully extended.
The model on my truck 880-02-367 (2" lift) is for sure 25.36 inches long (I have the drawing from fox for these)
The model 880-02-947 (3" lift) is the longer travel model but like I mentioned above there seems to be, according to the email I got today only an additional 1 inch of travel. Now I've emailed him back to find out of that's an innard change or if the shock body is actually longer. By innards I mean they could have shortened the internal stops (my words). Here is a link to another forum (not sure if im allowed to to this but here goes nothing, advanced apology) that I found pretty interesting.
I know this is old Orion...but did you find out any more info on the 3" lift model?
I was looking at these today on the Fox website and I thought I don't want 2" of lift I want to get 3" of lift. I did not see where it says that you need to get different UCAs with that model...
Did you get that from the guy at Fox?
I guess I am confused because guys say on here all the time 3" is fine but more than that you need UCAs.

Kev, If you do any off roading a new UCA would be needed as the factory UCA ball joint can not articulate what the shock is capable of. If your just crusing on the streets Im sure you would be fine.
As far as the 3" model: Its a 7" travel shock (6" travel on the 2" lift) which, with a proper UCA would give you about 11" to 14" of wheel travel (2wd vs. 4wd). The 3" lift shock is the same shock as the 2" lift but in the 6" model fox installs two spacers a .4" internal and a .5" extrenal to limit travel, now I'm guessing here but I think the 3" lift comes into play with a higher spring rate, and or a 700# longer spring, more questions would need to be asked in that regard.
Hope all that helps.

Orion, I think I am experiencing something similar. Just recently started hearing almost a clicking/creaking noise, maybe a clunking noise in the front. Had a couple friends take a look at it and they think I might have set the preload ring down to low and that I might be topping out. Can you take a picture of your preload spring and also how can you tell what model you have? Thanks for the help.

The way to tell which model u have is kinda hard to see,but if u can get a visual of the end cap there will be stamped numbers. Post them up. To find out if your issue is low nitrogen you'll need a no air loss gauge, any motorcycle shock rebuild place will have one, or u can order one online for about $80. If your anything below 150 psi youll hear a clunk, which is the internal piston in the reservoir slamming around creating cavitation. If it all checks out its a mechanical issue elsewhere.
Now the spring adjusting ring is sent from fox .805" from the top of the threads to the top of the locking ring. Post up some pics, bottom mount and top mount..
Another way of checking droop is measure truck on the ground and then lift the truck and remeasure, a good droop shoud be about 2.0 to 3.5 inches which is 1.3 to 2.3" of shaft travel. Get some pictures up first off and lets see from there.
