New Toyota ‘FT-4X’ Trademark Hints at Possible FJ Cruiser Successor

I know it'll never happen but I wish they would produce something with more of retro FJ40 look that had soft-top option.

1974 FJ40 Factory Soft top (still own, barn find in 2012)
2014 Tundra 1794, Bronze Mica (traded for 2017 TRD Pro)
2015 4-Runner TRD Pro, Black
2017 Tundra TRD Pro CrewMax, Cement Grey (TRD Rear Sway Bar, Retrax Pro MX Cover)

For sure! If they'd make something with the old body styling, I'm sure it would be a hit. Just like the old Range Rover Defender. Those have a huge following but they're just too hard to find and normally to expensive for the average Joe.

I traded in my BD Fj for the RW. Still a toss on which was my favorite.

Yep I agree with you. I currently have a Tundra TRD PRO and a Jeep Wrangler. JEEP IS CRAP NEXT TO Toyota. A new retro fj40 would easily take over the Jeep Wrangler segment! I know, I would sale my Jeep right away.

The new Bronco is coming too, and let's assume a new FJ. They will have a lot of work to do to take over the Wrangler segment. The sales and loyalty of Wranglers is incredibly high, and the Wrangler aftermarket support is untouchable. If it does not have solid axles (apparently the Bronco will) it will not even get anywhere. If it has a good torquey motor and a diesel option, it will have a fighting chance.
