2008 Toyota Tundra Warrior Edition

Toyota buried a "prototype" Tundra Double Cab in its spread of trucks on the floor at this year's Chicago Auto Show. It's similar in appearance to the TRD Off-Road Concept shown last year at SEMA in Las Vegas.

Toyota spokesperson Joe Tetherow told PickupTruck.com that Toyota is looking to gauge consumer reaction to the trucks's "Warrior" trim package.

The plaque next to the truck reads:

"The 2008 Tundra Warrior presents a new, aggressive attitude for Tundra. The Warrior fights against convention with its monochromatic black exterior treatment, which includes the bumpers, grille surround, headlight bezels, tinted taillights and ceramic coated TRD dual exhaust. The new TRD forged 17" wheels compliment the bold look and capabilities of this Special Edition Concept, as do the brushed metal finish of the mirrors, door handles and billet aluminum fuel door.

The Warrior theme continues to the interior, which features an all-black treatment, including the headliner. Brushed metal surfaces reinforce the tough image of the Warrior, and CAD accessory pedals and shift knob round off the package. The Tundra Warrior is a Special Edition Concept based on the SR5 grade package. Possible configurations include both 4.7-L and 5.7-L iForce V8 engines, as well as 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains."

doesnt seem like there is enough in the package to make it viably marketable. Maybe as options but would be a weak package to me.

I like the black. But needs more like Nerf Bars, backup camera and those headlights that were black with a different look to them. It would definitely make it sharp. But still I prefer the crewmax insted of a DC.

Yea. for them to call it the "warrior" it should be more badass. Then a dc with no running boards and all black and different TRD wheels.Just blah.

Dascrow. Ya never said what you think of it. After all your tundra is like mine, I think, which are both the "base" for this.

It would be nice if Dascrow would reply. Personally the Warrior should be a crewmax. I would enjoy it with all the extras. BTW I bought on ebay those LED Headlights from Cosmos. Those would look sharp on the Warrior.

This would be similar to some "Sport" packages that Ford, GM, and Dodge have brought out in the past. They're easy to create, inexpensive, and the thinking is they might help sell a few extra trucks.

It's nice, but it all depends on how much...if it's a few hundred extra, no biggie. If they try to make it into a big package, it's not that compelling (at least in my opinion).

I agree if its a couple hundred bucks more I would have been interested. I like the fact that it is level.

This is great a website designed for all the guys who love Ford's but can't afford them. I spend more time signing up for this than its worth. Hey guys there this thing called girls. They are pretty cool and fun, you should meet them some time. Tundra's are nice toying but if your looking for a real truck find one thats been doing this for a while with a proven record. Maybe one that makes a commercial truck. Just a idea, also dont forget about thinking about talking to a girl. Thay dont have cooties, Buy a real truck and get a life. Oh yhea in 2007 the drive shaft where falling out of them its a national recall check it out, how about the cam shafts. Thats a great truck, keep up the great work.

Great site for the guys that can outrun fords loaded or not didn't you mean to say getreal. When ford decides to put an engine and transmission in their bland f150 I'd consider it LOL!! That being said I like the look of the warrior not to overdone with a bunch of b/s just a good looking truck. I love the wheels.

I don't know what's funnier; the comments above or a redneck with a computer....Either way it's pretty funny especially with the know problems that the 7.3 & 6.0 powerstrokes are know for. I have owned 5 powerstrokes over the last 8 years and finally threw in the towel with ford. Bought an 08 DC Tundra and absolutly love it...Especially with the price of diesel right now. Anywho, I like the "warrior" (except for the wheels) but it would all depend on the price.
