Toyota offers new round of incentives on Tundra

Toyota Motor Corp., coming off its most successful sales month in the U.S., said Friday that it is offering another round of incentives on its full-size Tundra pickups.

The incentives offered through July 31 include a choice of zero-percent financing for five years, rebates of up to $3,500, or reductions of $500 on down payments on three-year leases. The monthly payment on the leases remains $259, but the down payment drops to $2,499 from $2,999.

Japan's Toyota passed Ford Motor Co. for the No. 2 sales spot in the U.S. in May, when its sales increased 9.7 percent over year-earlier levels. General Motors Corp. remains No. 1.

Tundra sales in May totaled 17,727, up 114 percent from April. Toyota spokesman Bill Kwong said the incentive program was launched in response to intense competition in the full-size pickup segment. Overall sales of full-size pickups are down 5.5 percent so far this year.

This is the second Tundra incentive in 2007. In February, Toyota offered low-rate financing and lease deals and a program that provided dealers with three $250 coupons for every regular cab truck in stock.

I am about to order a new Tundra Limited DC 5.7. I have been told by dealers that the rebate is $2500 (one dealer) or $3000! Do you have any info on which model gets which rebates? I understand that the Crewmax rebates are less, is that correct?

Hey Ransom, be comforted by the crewmax in your driveway, mines still on order. And I'm not sure if I'm locked in on price or incentives or not. Hope to have Pic's soon...

They are going to kill the used value of this truck if they keep on doing it!

Not neccessarily true - in the long run. Short term yes, rebates hurt resale value of course - but did you buy your truck to sell it? in a year, in two? I plan on keeping mine until pay off - 4yrs minus 2 payments and counting! And am not so concerned with the short term effects of rebates, Besides I got 3500 off myself back in April - so I'm already there. Ok here is how it will affect us - by selling more tundra's toyota is strengthening the presence of these vehicles in the marketplace and putting up impressive numbers of sales - regardless of total profit earned at this point they are looking 4-5yrs down the road. The HD tundras are coming, turbo diesel and all - this is a long term assualt on the full size truck market - not some isolated one off they are looking to net a little profit on. We will benefit 2-4yrs down the road because we bought a toyota rather than a ford or gm product. Will tundras' hold thier value as well as say a prius? probably not but will they do better than any other truck out there (not counting the hondog since it is not in the same league here) - hell yes they will. So maybe this does a little damage on resale - this is historically true with many first year models in pretty much any car line - the 90 300ZTT, 93 supraTT and 93 RX7TTand like vehicles being exceptions to the rule. If you can't wait for the 2nd or even 3rd yr for the makers to get the bugs out and polish the model a bit then don't complain - you can't have it all. Look at it this way - we are the first to experience these trucks and so have the enjoyment of them now rather than having bought a ford or gm or titan 07 truck. Then in 08 or 09 or 1? we can't wait any longer and end up trading in our pos for a tundra - cause they are just so overwhelmingly better trucks - and then take the friggin huuuge bite on the trade in at that time. Which would you rather??
It is called a marketing strategy - and somewhere along the way it worked on all of us - grin an bear it man - not so hard to do sitting in your 07 tundra beastie

I am about to order a new Tundra and have gotten quotes from 11 dealers. All have said that the rebates and incentives that apply are the ones in effect at the time of DELIVERY. My truck will not be delivered for 8-12 weeks so it is a crap shoot for me also!! One dealer said he is confident that the incentives in effect now will be renewed, but that is only his opinion.

rebates

My Salesguy is trying to track down a Limited Loaded Pyrite Mica for me and has had no luck in 31 states searched so far. I am told the same thing. The rebate offers are for when you take possession of the vehicle, not when it is ordered. I am in the same boat as some of you. I have the money, I want the truck, Toyota is just behind keeping up with the demand. My dealer told me the same thing, he practically guaranteed this incentive will be held over through August. Good luck to everyone else who is waiting for their truck too! I hope my salesman comes across what I am looking for soon!!! I hate to miss out on 0% for 5 years, that offer doesn't come around much from Toyota. Good luck to you guys!!
