Please define "steputually" as your question is a little hard to understand for my simple mind.

Perhaps that is why you are having a hard time getting a response. Perhaps you should dumb it down a bit so they can understand what you are asking?

And if your basing your decision on purchasing a vehicle on 5 question you posed to customer service and not getting an answer quick enough, then maybe you should go into a dealer and ask

Sorry about the confusion! What was meant was are the optional "steps" and the "running boards" serving the same function and therefore one would choose one or the other. And I agree, I would not base a decision on the purchase of the Tundra on this, as I can get the answers to the questions somewhere. But my point is, the Toyota help line could not answer what in my opinion were some very simple questions and this line is promoted as a resource for information.

Shoot us the five questions and lets see if we can get them answered for you?

As for the "running boards" and the "optional steps" serving the same function, are we talking about the same things (or something close)I have in these link?

optional steps = Toyota.com : Vehicles : Tundra : Accessories

running boards = the one standard ones that come from the factory?

I do believe they serve the same function, as a step for getting in and out of the truck. I do not believe they are the kind that can be used off road, to protect the sides of the truck when going over large rocks and what not.

Let me know if I answered your question correctly?

Yes, as far as I can determine the running boards and steps mount to the same place. I finally contacted a dealer two hours away,(the closest one) and they had a "truck guy" who knew his stuff and could answer all my questions. Looks like now any Tundra ordered now will be a 2008!!
