Falken Wildpeak A/T Review

Well, I finally had to break down and replace those terrible Bridgestone Duellers that Toyota put on my truck. After days of researching tires, comparing sizes and pricing, and speaking with my local tire guy I decided to go with the Falken Wildpeak A/Ts. They have a 50,000 mile warranty on all sizes, and what finally swayed me was the fact that the tire guy had them on his own truck.

When they rolled my truck out I was impressed. Initially online they didn't look as aggressive as they do in real life. They have 17/32" of tread on the 285/65R18s for nice deep lugs. The tread pattern is unlike any other tire I've seen out there, but has all kinds of different angles and shoulders to bite into the earth. The stylized side walls also look good. The cost per tire was just under $200 each, with installation, alignment, fees, and tax I came in at $975.

I've been driving on them a week and they ride nice. At first they felt a little squirrley but after a few hundred miles they have settled down. The ride is smooth with just a little bit of barely perceptable road noise. They handled well in the rain this week also.

I had them in the mud a few days after I got them and they did a fantastic job. They cleaned out well, and had good bite. I look forward to testing them in some more extreme conditions.

I haven't had them long enough to comment on tread life but after a week they still look brand new. I am hoping to get at least close to the 50k miles out of them, but I'm pretty easy on tire so hopefully I'll get even more.

I also have them on my truck with stock 18's, they are sixz 305/65/18 and like you stated above they were a bit squirlly at first but have settled down nicely with th correct air pressure. I have taken them to the desert and the dunes towing a trailer and they did gret.

Like you said also they dident look to agressive online but after having them they look reall good on my set up.

I like them and the big plus is they are affordable, i couldent pay 300$+ for a set of tires and they would wear out under 40k miles..

Very happy with them so far.

It's been a while since I posted. I think I have about 11k miles on them now and there is no real noticeable tread wear. The sharp edges of the outside tread are just barely worn.

I've had the tires off road several times during hunting season this year, and the performed as designed. They pulled me through the slick stuff, and cleaned out well. The only thing I've found about them that could be a con is that they have a tendency to trap rocks in the tread pattern and then kick them out at speed.

Overall, I am very happy with the purchase. My only real complaint is that they didn't have a bigger size when I got mine because even though they are wider than my stock tires, the diameter is still the same.

If anyone is interested Falken makes another model, the Rocky Mountains, which are a tad bit cheaper and identical to the Wild Peaks. Discount Tire is the only one who sells them as far as I know.

Put on a set about 4 months ago and would not have done anything differently. Excellent tire with an outstanding aggressive look that would normally have cost you close to the $300 range. Highly recommend the tires and will probably buy another set when these wear out I am so pleased.

Rear Setup - OME w/ Coachbuilders +3
Wheels - RWs w/ 285/70 Rocky Mountains

I had Nokian Rotiiva ATs on before and they have a very very close tread. I'm going with Wildpeaks because the rotiivas are a snow tire. I need an all season. And I had amazing traction with that style tread. I also prefer that squared shoulder look.
