I went without the port options for an out the door price of $24,588. Thanks for the response. I'm actually looking at doing the exact same thing. Planned on having $3000 down and shopping around for the best interest rate right now to go with the rebate. Did the truck you bought already have those options (towing, Fog lights specifically) installed or did you negotiate those in?

I can't say they were on the truck because the truck is still at the factory, but I was negoitiating on a truck that was availble that had those options plus the port options. I couldnt see paying almost a grand on stuff i could get Cheaper.
The dealer had no prob making it happen w/o the port options. Thats how I got to $ 24588. Where are you?

Hi guys,

I'm a noob here, but I thought I'd toss in my two cents. I have two suggestions for guys who want to save a lot of money in shopping for cars/trucks:

1) CarBuyingTips.com new car buying guide, avoiding dealer scams, new cars, used car buying

These guys have a lot of good tips for buying cars in general. It's pretty detailed stuff, so sort through to the stuff you need to know.

2) Fighting Chance New Car Buying Guide - Buy or lease a new car with our car buying guide. Get new car invoice prices for most all vehicles. Buying a car? Don't do it without this car buying guide.

I'd seen their advertisements, and I've often wondered how reliable were the soundbytes? Well... pretty good actually. It worked for me, and I'll recap (briefly).

My car "died" Wednesday. I was planning on buying a truck when it died, so I had my eye on the Tundra for quite a while. I submitted my order to FC on Wed night. Had my packet e-mailed to me by Friday. Monday afternoon, I sent my letter to 19 dealers throughout my state/neighboring state. I got 11 "best" offers, one no thank, and a "I know what your doing" (whom I just asked if he wanted to sell a truck - he gave me a decent offer anyways). Bottom line: I met the dealer selling me the truck after no-kidding, not speaking to him more than a total of 15 minutes (and I even ordered/had them install nerf bars). The best part: no negotiation. Just straight-talk offers.

All I can say, is that it was the best $35 I've ever spent to get $530 below invoice (which may not be awesome, but I didn't have to work too hard to get there) when I had hoped to just get near invoice. Its very straight forward and his strategies are dealer friendly no-nonsense no-hardball negotiations work strategies for saving you money. I didn't speak to a single dealer for more than about 10 minutes total (and like I said, I contacted 19) I can't tell you more, as I don't want to steal James Bragg's business. He could charge $50 bucks and I'd still pay it!

But I've got a brand new 4 x 2 Black on Black '08 Tundra Class 5.7L DC for almost as cheap as I bought my wife's CRV three years ago. I need to buy her a mini-van now (I'm thinking Sienna), and I'm going to do Fighting Chance again. I'm feeling 10 feet tall right now.

i dont know if i can really give any advise all i can tell you is work with them. hopefully they will work with you. i talked my guy down about $5000. the only real reason i could do that was because i had already bought a truck from the same salesman about 4 years earlier and i brought him that truck back in great shape as a trade in. so i got about a $40,000 tundra with my trade in of a 2003 tacoma double cab with about 40,000 miles on it for $17,500 out the door after taxes. and its a guarentee that i will go back to him again as long as he is still there the next time i want to get another new toyota.
