Regional Trucks

Hi,

Does anyone happen to know if you can only get a Double Cab, 4x2 w/ a 5.7 in certain regions? None of the local dealers (long island) have anything available with the 5.7 unless its 4wd. Also, I noticed the Toyota web site doesnt let me "build my own" that way with my zip code - but if I change it to a southern state (where I imagine 4wd is less in demand due to climate) then it does allow it.

4-wheel-drive is nice to have, but I've had 4wd trucks for the last 10 years or so and used it about 3 times a year. With traction control and snow tires, and being careful, I think I can get around the increase expense of 4wd.

My other question is I was wondering if anyone knows if you can put in a sales order with toyota, like you can for domestics.

Thank you in advance for the asssitance.

-Rich

Went to a lot yesterday to test drive one. They had lots of those DC 5.7 4X2's there.

btw, I am in South Carolina, but the dealership was in NC.

Rich,

Down here in the south it's not about the snow but the mud! Looking in traffic it is often that you see a 2wd, but 4wd is the rule. Plus it helps solidify our redneck image!

Hi,
What did you end up test driving?

I really like powerful trucks - stock though - although I have respect for those who can make the HP numbers jump, I dont have the patience or the wallet to go down that path. I had a durango last with the hemi and I was impressed with that SUV. But getting back to the tundra, I am looking for something I can do weekend warrior work with, but also have some fun driving too. I am between the RAM and the Tundra. But leaning towards the tundra because of the higher stock HP.

Thanks,
Rich

I test drove a 07 Limited Crewmax, and an 08 SR5 DC, I really liked the Limited but can't justify paying that much. I want a 07 SR5 Crewmax but the dealer is having a hard time finding one configured the way I want.
